I love the on site beach access. The hotel was well kept.

Hotel was out of service

I had a reservation at the Hilton Vacation Club The Modern Honolulu, but I was unable to check in due to maintenance issues—and I received absolutely no prior notification. They ultimately arranged for me to stay at another hotel where the facilities and cleanliness were very poor; the adjacent building was under renovation, causing loud noise starting before 8:00 AM every day, and I never received any explanation or resolution by the time I checked out.

I still would've given them 3 stars, but their handling of the power outage situation was a complete joke. Long story short, we had to sit in the dark and take cold showers for THREE days, before they finally agreed to move us to another hotel for the full remainder of our stay. Had to beg! Initially, they only offered to move us for 2 nights, sending the text AT NIGHT, when they know, you won't be able to pack, and said we need to arrange our own transport and send them the receipt. In the midst of all this, they sent a text to rate our stay. They said later power will be out for a month. Only refunded our resort fee for the days we were moved, not the other days stuff was closed. The name is big, but the brand is cheap.

Very disappointed with the lack of communication from The Modern Honolulu. The property had been without power for several days, yet we weren’t notified before arriving. We were offered the option to cancel, but booking another hotel the day of arrival would have been significantly more expensive than the rate I secured weeks in advance. Thankfully, we were relocated to the Outrigger on 150 Kaiulani Ave, which was a good alternative, but the lack of advance notice caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience.

I asked for the general manager to do right by me and got no response. I gave him every chance to do right and now I will be forwarding a complaint to the Hilton executive team as well as contacting Hawaiian consumer affairs for deceptive business practices. These are the facts make your own choice. If you wanna spend your vacation at a place that doesn’t care about their guests.

Despite a hurricane-induced power outage at our original facility, we were seamlessly transferred to the Outrigger Reef, which boasts a prime beachfront location. The staff and cleaning crew were exceptionally respectful, friendly, and accommodating, making our stay truly enjoyable!
-
I understand I was there during the hurricane, but they were not prepared regardless no generators on a major property is alarming It took them three days just to move us to another property and as we speak, I’m back home but electricity still out at that property pretty much only in that area besides the hurricane, we are timeshare holders in the room we were put on was horrendous, dirty carpet, moldy lampshades, and also have the nerve to tell us we were not going to get cleaning besides the electricity hurricane situation, but if you paid you got a better room and cleaning every day make it make sense as a timeshare holder we should be put first

The bed was a bit too soft and the room felt like it could use some updating. Otherwise the location was perfect. The filtered water station in the lobby was a really nice feature. The patio has a nice vibe. The staff were friendly and helpful.
-
The location of our hotel room was horrible, right next to the elevator and the staff were so loud as they cleaning rooms next door and walking the hallway. Not enough towels and we took our own trash out as they do not clean your rooms until every 4 days. The shower also didn’t drain all the water and it was very frustrating. I also saw hair all over the shower and floors.
-
Hotel under renovations so breakfast was not available. You will get a credit but it doesn’t go far.
-
Everything was easily accessible including the beach and popular attractions.
-
Location was excellent prices were perfect
-
I liked how it was close by to the beach and to convenience stores. Gym facilities were top notch. Not too much amenities. The restaurant was only open from 10am to 9pm and didn’t serve breakfast.
-
The staff were amazing! They made our stay very enjoyable. Coming back!!
-
All great except the room wasn’t cleaned for a few days.

-
Concierge staff was very nice! Weird design in the walls of the room to the restroom where it was see through, from the wall panels.
-
Hotel management has changed. Before the restaurant offered breakfast but they no longer do which is a drag
