I just wish there was AC. It was pretty sweltering in April. Other thing is location. It looks central on a map, but its not really in person. I relied on rides rideshares but those are pricy in Houston. And tou need to be able to get around. I ended up renting a car for thr last 2 days.

When I arrived there was no one there--staff or travelers. It's in a slightly creepy part of town. I couldn't figure out how to open the gate for parking, then realized from staff email to me that the clicker to the parking gate was on my bed and I'd find it once I got to my room. But since no one was there when I entered, it just felt creepy and unsafe. So I booked another hotel and didn't sleep at the Wanderstay. It's charming and I would have stayed if I wasn't traveling alone, since there was not one soul there when I arrived.

I found dead insects not sure if they were cockroachs in my bedroom as well as the common area.

worked perfect for a downtown stay

Excellent stay experience
-
Price was great so it was acceptable that it wasn’t perfectly clean. Not the best area (especially at night), 15-20 min walk to restaurants.

Very comfortable stay. Bunk beds were all full-sized mattresses in the room I stayed in, which was a bonus I had never seen. The bathroom was clean. Lockers were available for use but I did not see any locks, just so you know - maybe bring your own padlock if you want to use one. The location was convenient for me. Staff were friendly and allowed me to check in later in the evening with no issues. I would absolutely stay here again.

Peaceful atmosphere, vibe, ambiance. Liked the decor. Needs some cleaning and upgrading in upstairs bathroom. Also maintenance like broken curtain rods. Need some maintenance work done.

Takes about half an hour to 40 minutes to walk to CBD (downtown). Only issue is there's just two bathrooms for whole hostel and the shower and toilet in the same. Also not a fan of getting sent codes for doors would prefer a key or card.
