Candlewood Suites Kalamazoo Se by IHG

The room itself was spacious. The hotel looks dated, somewhat run-down. There is no pool and the workout room is a bit weird with random, mis-matched weights. The room was not clean. There was a half-eaten pop tart on the floor when I pulled out the hide-a-bed for the kids. The mattress cover was clearly unwashed. There was just an obvious lack of diligence when it came to cleanliness. We got a suite. A suite is one room with a separate, enclosed bedroom (perfect for a couple with small kids). Most suites have a separate wall unit and thermostat for the bedroom. This suite has one wall unit in the main area and a weird little in-the-wall fan that blew the cooler air from the main room to the bedroom. Kind of. I was hot and sweaty each night while my kids were freezing. Not only that, but the fan ij the wall removed privacy for me and my wife. There were just too many negatives for me to recommend this hotel to anyone. We will not be booking here again. I will say, as a last word of positivity, that the staff were friendly and kind.

Convenient

My stay at the candlewood suites was very pleasant. The bed was extremely comfortable, great amenities, and a very helpful and wonderful staff. My truck battery died and not only did they have jumper cables (thank goodness), the guy spend 25 minutes trying to help me get that battery jumped with his own car. I will definitely choose to stay here again when I have to do an overnight stay in kalamazoo.

I needed to stay in the Kalamazoo/Portage area for 3 nights. I booked just my first night at this hotel to make sure I liked it. First night was great, I loved it! Clean with lots of amenities and a comfy bed. I then decided to book my next two nights. I ended up in room 306, which was a bummer, because the elevator was broke (not their fault, I understood this). But, when I entered the room late that night the smell of wet dog hit me and the carpet was very damp. I decided not to go back downstairs and complain because it seemed like they didn’t have any other rooms and of course the elevator situation. When I went to work the next day I left the air at a very low temp and the bathroom fan on in hopes it would smell better. It didn’t.

All was great but the elevator was broken and they had people fixing it but wasn’t functional during my one night stay quiet and seemed safe

This is an older hotel but it has been maintained well. The rooms were spacious and clean. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. It’s right off the highway in a convenient location.

We were in a accessible room but it is really not accessible room for someone with mobility issues. Bed was to high. Also shouldn't have to climb over tub. It should be walk in shower with a bench. Then going to get out of shower slipped and down I went. Had to have paramedics come to help get me out of shower floor.

Decent no complaint. except creepy guest , but they can’t control that

A nice place with friendly staff. No free breakfast per se, but coffee and fruit available. Lots of food and snack items available for purchase. For some reason after check in I got a call saying my registration did not “go through.” They asked me to stop by the desk again. They ran my credit card again- which I was reluctant to do since the pending charge was already showing in my account. Sure enough, a second pending charge appeared. They apologized and said one of the charges would come off. It did, about 5 days later.

Good location, clean rooms, staff were all friendly and helpful, and the free laundry was convenient. The only recommendation or wish list item would be an included continental breakfast instead of a convenience store.

Parking was good. The mattress was worn and should be replaced. I couldn’t cast to the TV.
