Southernmost Beach Resort and Guesthouses

Nice place, but over priced

Ok so it would have been nice to know the beach front at the resort was being worked on and the resorts water front was buried in sea weed. Also the ocean side pool was closed until September 25th. Stayed in the Avalon bed and breakfast, our windows were frosted to block the view of the neighboring building and was very noisy from neighboring rooms and the coffee shop. A/C in the room barely kept the room cool and water pressure was very low. I would recommend staying in other buildings on the resort.

Very nice property. Dining was great. Pineapple pool bar drinks and food service was great. Hats off to Carla and Vlad. Provided excellent service at the pineapple bar. Looking forward to returning.

We loved the resort except the largest pool was closed for the first three days of our stay. That made the others two smaller pools very very crowded.

The facility was beautiful and the amenities were great! just keep in mind it is a walk to the seaport and the main part of Duval, which became a little too far to walk back in forth, which we knew it would be a walk when we booked it.

The staff was personable and pleasant. My room was great and facility maintained well. There was one pool down for service. My beach access due to seaweed/seagrass. The smell was terrible several times a day. Was hard to enjoy the beautiful outdoor restaurant. We were able to get a few times in. Food was great! I feel those things should have been advised to customers prior to booking.

Don’t spend the extra money for oceanfront or expect to use the beach if you are traveling from April - October. Beach was closed and very stinky. Staff says it happens every year during those months. Most areas of the resort you couldn’t smell it except the cafe and the part of the resort near the ocean. Large pool was also closed but they said that was an emergency repair. Overall, helpful staff and good property. Would stay again but wouldn’t stay on that side of the resort.

A little annoyed at the gate that got locked (leading us to our room), and that the gate was not repaired during our stay, but that was the only real issue out of the entire stay.

It was amazing time. We got the partial ocean view but it was right by the pier. Very tranquil and beautiful each day. Definitely going back again. We went in September, now and then rain but enough sunlight for sure. A great experience!

I usually don’t write reviews, but since the staff was less then helpful when I complained to them, I felt the need to inform the public about this hotel and my experience. I booked an ocean view hotel thru Expedia, however the room I was given was a garden view with “partial” ocean view. I showed the photo to the desk clerk and he told me I was wrong and he knew the side of the hotel my room was on and that I did have an ocean view. He was extremely rude when he told me that because I booked thru Expedia, and didn’t book an ocean ”front” view, it was my fault. Another issue I had was the hidden resort fees that need to be paid when you get to the hotel. I normally don’t mind paying for resort fees, but half of the amenities were not available. The beach was closed because of ongoing construction. The pool was dirty. None of the elevators worked so if you are in a wheelchair, you will have to find someone to carry you up 3-4 flights of stairs. The smell at the pool was disgusting and smelled like sewage all the time. The water pressure in the room was also horrible and we never felt clean even after a shower. Lastly, the coffee pot in the room was broken. No one seemed concerned about these issues when I spoke to the staff and said that it was because I hooked thru Expedia and I get what I pay for.

There is a lot of hidden fees. There’s a $65/day fee for some dumb reason. There’s a $58/day car fee if you have a car. The beach was unusable and smelled god awful. We were lucky to have breakfast included but everything was an extra charge.

Southernmost was in a great location. We were happy with our stay. But we were very disappointed that the largest pool was closed for repairs (without being notified) causing the pineapple pool to be over crowded and and wild in the off season. The tranquility pool was nice and was quiet at night. The ceiling fan in our room came on during the night. Another friend’s light and fan came on during the middle of the night. Might need to get the remote controls fixed. Rooms were nice and roomy but we paid extra for 2 double beds. Roosters were loud but woke us up so we didn’t waste the day away sleeping.

We enjoyed our stay, the property is beginning to age a little. Major bummer the main pool was closed, made the pi apple bar pool very crowded.

We enjoyed our stay. The only downside was the beach and odor coming from it. Not a fan.
