La Jolla Shores Hotel

The hotel provides umbrellas and chairs and sets them up on the beach for you. This service alone makes the hotel stay worth it but there are more to love about this location. They are walking distance to great coffee (Brick & Bell) and delicious ice cream and crepes (Scoops). Good food is within walking distance so no need to drive anymore. Such a relaxing place to stay. We enjoyed the ping pong table, jenga, corn hole and foosball table.

Our AC unit cut off and started to smell like burning as it apparently switched to heat. Other than the lost sleep the hotel was a great location.

We appreciate that the property has been around for quite some time making the location ideal -beach access couldn’t be better! Some areas of the hotel show more signs of age more than others. For instance in our room there was a chair with a broken leg that was just propped back up but since we didn’t use this chair, it wasn’t an issue for us and figured the staff must have known about this too. The view was very good from our balcony and in the room the sheets and towels were crisp and clean. At reception, I asked if I could use a microwave to warm up a croissant and they kindly offered to put a microwave in our room - we really appreciated that! The outdoor property maintenance gentlemen were so polite, holding a door open for me even though they were busy doing a great job at cleaning and pruning. The staff at the beach setting up the umbrellas and chair were the best! They were always happy to help! We did not use the pool or restaurant but the staff seemed welcoming all around. Overall we really enjoyed our stay!

Rooms were clean but dated and not well maintained — ripped curtains, dents and dings in bed headboard and walls. Staff didn’t allow for late check out (even when we tried asking for one late check out in our party of 5 rooms). Price was relative to the location to the beach, not the hotel itself. Shuttle driver was wonderful.

We got a great deal on the La Jolla Shores waterfront hotel, with a pool and hot tub! The price reflected the age and work that needed to be done. The food at the hotel restaurant was good but we didn't always have good service, and it was painfully slow! Otherwise, we had a nice, large room and bath area with a view looking down the coast, which is what we wanted!!

Musty smell. Moldy tiles Beer cans under our bed. Outside amenities great Cleanliness poor.

Great balcony beach view. Restaurant was top notch. But, for the price paid, I would think that they could afford some decent TP, instead of that single ply crap. On the other hand, an experienced hotel traveler should just remember to bring their own!

The room was outdated, the sink was backed up and the room temp (AC unit) was not cooling well. I thought the price was high for the room but was nice to be so close to the beach. The parking fee to their garage was pricey as well. It was a good experience but wouldn’t stay there again.

If you need anything ask. The staff are always helpful. Thanks for making my stay a great experience. Looking forward to make this a regular stay location when I visit the San Diego area.

Hotel staff seemed irritable and were less than friendly. Restaurant staff were great. Can’t beat the location. Rooms are very dated and could be updated. You are definitely only paying for the hotel location.

Loved Location and the beachfront.

Beautiful property with classic California vibe. We stayed 3 nights and the location was perfect, on the beach and restaurants within walking distance.
