Days Inn by Wyndham Laurel MS

I was in town for a funeral so I only needed to stay for 2 nights. If you’re on a tight budget with low expectations, then this is the place for you. The hotel lobby AND my room had a one of those damp musty smells. The room did not have a full-length mirror. The bed was not comfortable. The tub looked stained and so was the chair (I took pictures). Breakfast was a typical complimentary breakfast, meh. The fitness room only had 1 treadmill, 1 elliptical, and one lat-pulldown machine where you can also do seated chest presses. There were no free weights. The treadmill was a bit wobbly and It’s arms were very loose. I felt like it may fall apart any day now. I tolerated this hotel since my stay was so short. I would not stay here again. There’s a Hampton Inn right behind it where my friends were staying, which was a better choice.

Friendly staff, location not bad. Room was clean Chair in room was filthy, socks were getting dirty from carpet and saw a few roaches in room.

The elevator was out of service for a day and a half. Hauling luggage and trekking up and down 2 flights of stairs was not great. The A/C unit had broken louvers on each vent, with food crumbs and bugs inside the air vents. The hair dryer shot sparks and burned up. We returned it to the front desk, that was mostly unattended, and never got a replacement. The pool was closed for the first two days because it was not kept ready for swimming. It had to be chemically shocked to try to restore the water quality, which made it scary to even attempt to swim. How do you not have a pool ready for swimming in late July? Why even advertise a pool if no one can use it? The card reader on the outside of the building did not work. Had to walk all the way around to the front of the hotel just to get in.

Bad

Close to interstate and to sports complex

Bad- the worst part of this trip was the interaction with the staff of this hotel. There was only ONE person that was not angry we were there inconveniencing them with our presence and I'm pretty sure he was the owner/manager. The rest of the staff was surly, indifferent, and borderline hateful toward us and were observed that way with others. It does not appear the staff enjoy their job, their current condition, or dealing with people in any capacity. The breakfast warden was by far the worst offender and should be fired for the way she spoke to small children. Additionally, I never saw the pool filtration system running during our 5 night stay and the ice makers were spotty at best. The homeless man lurking in the bushes was a nice touch and the shared "laundry facility" was a joke, actually stole a whole dollar from me and had to go find a dryer elsewhere. Bottomline- If you're looking to just get by for a couple nights or this is your last resort locally, it will do in a pinch. If you'd like to experience a laid back and pleasant trip full of southern hospitality and charm, run- do not walk- from this hotel as an option.

There is some areas that could be addressed.

Always had to wait on a clerk, when checking in or with a problem. But once they were at the desk very nice. The breakfast was good and the woman that takes care of that very nice and friendly.

Not a lot The breakfast staff /Lady was rude and very disrespectful to us and several older individuals in the mornings. To the point that she made the lady throw her food out because “We were there with our children playing in World Series” she was running late and couldn’t eat in the area. We got up and left 1 morning because she was snappy and yelling at my grand daughter because she dropped a spoon on the counter. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL LADY. Would not recommend this place to stay at if this continued

Quick overnight stay. Room was musty smelling, got a little bit better with the air circulating. Room was otherwise clean, and decent breakfast offering.

The main reason we chose this hotel was for a pool. It was cloudy and had debris floating all on top. Drink machines were out of order. No air conditioning in the hallways. The bathroom shower had mildew in the caulk. The toilet was wobbly. I could feel the springs in bed when I laid down. The room was clean. I think it’s just an outdated hotel that needs a lot of attention. I wouldn’t stay there again or recommend to anyone.

Would not recommend. Needing to extend for another day. Was told by staff that all is good to extend. Next morning was told they don’t have nothing for me. Half our baseball team got to do it at certain rate but wanted to charge me more. As soon as I left another friend got to extend for $140 but told me same room was $250. Rooms smelt musty.

Black mold all over bathroom ceiling. Need I say more. Bed comfortable but couldn’t wait to be done with the stay. Smelled musty. Needs a big overhaul.

Good

The staff at the front desk was nice. The room was musty and smelled. The room was dated which was something I could have looked past but it wasn’t clean. The mirror was streaked, the bathroom floor still had used toilet paper behind the can and bits of what looked like candy. The comforter had small stains and the pictures on the wall had seen better days.

The staff was nice when I checked in. Which was the only time I seen them. The next morning when I checked out they had a basket on the counter that said put your room keys here. The hotel its self was hot when we first entered. The elevator floor was so sticky that my shoes stuck to the floor like someone had spilt tea or soda and it wasn’t cleaned up. When we made it to the room it smelled like grandmas attic that hadn’t been opened in a while almost like a mildew smell. The walls had stains on them and the bathroom had obviously only been glossed over and not cleaned well because there was a pair of boxers in the floor under the sink area. Made the mistake of opening the fridge that either didn’t work or hadn’t been plugged in for quite some time gag worthy. For the price paid I expected better.
