Good value hotel. It’s in a bit of a crusty part of town, but the hotel is ok.

Great ! Everything was excellent

Although it's in DTLA and not really the greatest area to explore, The Hotel was very good and the room was so comfortable. I usually stay there when I play shows at the Redwood Bar and Grill around the corner from the hotel. It's very conveniente.

Got the twin room for the weekend and it was everything we needed. Staff very helpful with the valet, late check out, etc. great time!
-
at the Kawada when other guests had only paid about $125 per night . The rooms are miserable with no amenities -not even a closet .
-
Room was clean, but cramped. Staff were very friendly, not many amenities however location was unbeatable. For a 4 night stay with 2 guys it was serviceable, however I wouldn’t recommend for a large group or long stay.

Don’t expect decent service. The staff seems to be terribly frustrated to work there and takes it out on guests who ask basic questions. I had booked a room with a queen bed via Expedia and the front desk person gave me one with 2 double beds. He also charged me for the room despite me showing him the booking via Expedia and the fact that I had already paid a portion of the charges and only owed remaining balance. He double charged me and said he cannot do anything and refused to change rooms to the one I originally booked. Won’t recommend to anyone unless you are ok dealing with a short tempered staff that seems to act like they are doing you a massive favor by letting you stay at the hotel.

Room was clean, staff was friendly, and just overall nice

Good

TINY room. No place for suitcases. No place for toiletries in bathroom. View was of peeling paint of building about 10 feet away. Pillows smelled bad. Mattress like a board.

Would book again.

Location and space

Kawada's location is very convenient, whether you need to take Metro, or a 10-15 minute walk to Little Tokyo or other parts of downtown. The compact room is mostly quiet, with a microwave and mini-fridge for meal options. Water pressure is great for warm showers.

The hotel was clean and felt safe, although I wouldn't hang out around the neighborhood alone at night. The biggest inconvenience is that it is DOWNHILL from Central Downtown so while it looks to be close as the crow flies, if you think you're close to DT, be prepared for a hike, especially with luggage. I had to call a car to get to my destination because I wasn't going to hike uphill lugging my suitcase with me. Other than that, it was a pleasant stay.

It’s in downtown LA, so the area isn’t the greatest, but there are so many walkable restaurants, grocery stores, etc. We would definitely return!
-
The room was so small!!! Thank god we didn’t have our kids. No closet or space in the bathroom for my makeup and hair products. T.V was small also, my husband could only see half of it from the couch.

This was a very nice hotel, very clean and organized. The staff was friendly. Valet was extremely easy and everything is close by to walk. The only thing is if you stay in a room on the outer perimeter of the facility, it can get pretty noisy. Other than that. The beds are comfortable and it's a very nice looking hotel but again it is noisy that that's the only downfall.
-
Perfect room for the one night I was there. Room was clean and AC worked very well.
-
Very basic hotel with very few amenities- bed was comfortable but this is a sleep only hotel. It was clean but the cafe that’s part of the hotel is poorly stocked for breakfast - we opted not to eat there in the end.
-
great location.. great cafe next door
