PodShare DTLA Arts District - Hostel

The worst part was the safety issue. While I was packing to leave, a roommate I had never spoken to suddenly started yelling and cursing at me for no reason. He kept staring at me near the door afterward, which made me feel very uncomfortable and unsafe. I reported it to the staff immediately, but nothing was really done. The place seems understaffed, and safety concerns are not handled seriously. The room was also extremely hot with no AC. Even fans have to be requested and depend on availability. I paid almost $100 and only stayed for about half a day because the experience was so unacceptable. I definitely would not come back. If you can afford it, pay a little more and stay somewhere better. Not worth it.

A place to store my things was great. The was a few boxes of fruits veggies and peppers, I went back to try some, as I havent in a while. I liked the peaches, yum... Not enough shelf space in fridge. Had to put my things in freezer, for a linited time, before I ate my shawarma.

Softest beds. I lay down on mine and was taken away into dream land. A place to store my things was great. Inside the pod Dark , don't look like website's photos. No on site parking, I don't feel safe ...many Junky young people around.

The pros: the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The restrooms were kept clean and had hot running water, a little on the cramped side but not bad. It also is a short walk to Little Tokyo and to all the shops and restaurants nearby.

Location is decent and I like the setup. The Pods were actually nice, and well designed. The Staff was very responsive and I like the late check-in and late check-out procedures. I didn’t like the lack of privacy/ no curtains rule for the pods. They treat the pods more like bunk beds and they don’t even want you to improvise a curtain. There’s No air conditioning. It’s too dark at night during quiet hours, and there’s not enough ambient lighting or night lights to make navigating to the bathroom easier. The Bathroom and shower stalls are too cramped, this makes changing clothes difficult. There is no point to having monitors in the pods, because there’s no power supply to even connect them to. I would not recommend this place to people with mobility issues. It’s walkable to little Tokyo and Dtla, but there’s no convenience stores or gas stations nearby, so if you want something late and close by you’re gonna be outta luck. Most of Dtla (including LT and the Arts district) is a no go past midnight, and the closest 24hour thing that is open is a 7-11 ten minutes away, that just might happen to be closed for cleaning right when you need something.

The staff was friendly and it easy to move in even for one day. It feels a little cramp for the bathroom and shower space. It feels nice to know that my belongings would be fine and untouched when I leave it at my pod. It might be because of the weather at the time but it felt quite humid and but sure if we can request a fan to cool down but besides all that, it wasn't too bad. The sink does have a lot of dirty dishes. I had a good experience for my first time at a hostel as a solo traveler.
