Short Stories Hotel

Short Stories hotel is a well-maintained property with a mid-century modern feel. It has a lovely garden courtyard with lounge chairs and tables. My room was very comfortable and nicely furnished and very clean. A jug of drinking water was provided daily. There was a minibar with a selection of food and beverages, although I didn't use it. The room was very quiet and I didn't hear next door neighbors or those above or below, although there was a wedding held in the courtyard Friday night that had loud music from about 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. I don't know how often that happens though. The best part of Short Stories hotel is its location. I ate most of my meals at the Farmers' Market across the street, which offers great choices. I walked through the Grove shopping area nearby too, but I didn't buy anything there. I mainly chose this hotel for its proximity to Wilshire with the Academy Museum, LACMA and the Fairfax/Wilshire subway station. It was about a 25 minute walk there from the hotel, or you could take the 217 bus. It was so convenient. Nothing comes to mind.

The decor was cute and the room was clean but it definitely felt like a nice motel as opposed to a hotel.

The rooms need upkeep but they are very clean. It’s no frills and reliable. The best part is its proximity to useful stores.

The bed sheets looked damp and dirty, as if they hadn't been changed after the previous guest. On top of that, I found two bugs in the bed over two days. To make matters worse, even though we requested room cleaning and left a generous tip, it seems like the housekeeper just folded our used towels and hung them back up instead of replacing them.

Location and outside lounge . Good happy hour Noise and bad air conditioner- made noise all night . Would benefit from soundproofing panels

Perfect stay for the last night of our vacation. Right across from The Grove and the Farmers market making it easy to fill in the day before our late flight. Adorable courtyard and pool. Would love to stay here again

Pet friendly Good location

Rooms are tastefully appointed, very clean, and comfortable. Short Stories' adjacent location to the Farmers Market and Grove, make this hotel the best bargain in LA.

The staff was very friendly and nice. We were there for an event so we had to check in a bit early and they accommodated for us. The location was great right next to CBS studio and the mall. Over all great experience!

Excellent in every way

Short Stories Hotel is in a great location. The hotel has friendly staff, and valet service for parking. Rooms were comfortable and roomy.

The hotel was very clean. Courtyard and public spaces very nice. The air-conditioning wasn’t the greatest. It did not work at all in our first room, but the staff was lovely and accommodating, and quickly moved us to another and larger room. The AC worked better, but could work better still.

stayed here from august 31-september 4 2026. Everything was great but whenever somebody slams the door i can hear it from the inside and whenever there’s some sort of banging on the other room or outside, it can be heard from inside the room aswell. however, the walls weren’t super thin that you can hear conversations or the tv from the other room. everything was great tho. Good and safe location perfect for a solo traveler. the place was clean and the little garden setup near the lobby was cute.
