Residence Inn By Marriott Merrillville

Over the years, my wife and I have stayed at this property several times and we have always enjoyed our stay each and every time. The rooms are very clean and decently appointed. Of course, we love the fact that all the rooms are suites with nice little kitchens, full size fridge, stove top and things you need for cooking/eating like plates and utensils. They also have a pullout couch should you have a visitor with a nice flatscreen for couch or pre-sleep viewing. The master bedroom is spacious enough with a really nice mattress (which is truly a difference maker being away from home and all) and its own flat screen T.V. The bathroom was just o.k. The tub/shower looked very aged with patchwork to the tub and walls very evident. The shampoo rack containing the bathroom amenities had fallen off the wall where it had been cheaply glued. The main issue we had was this hotel is pet friendly and both my wife and I are allergic to animal hairs. When I mentioned prior to check in that we wanted a pet free room, I was told that all rooms were "pet friendly". Although the room smelled fine and no visible signs of pet hair, we spent our time wheezing and coughing during our stay. It wasn't horrible but I was surprised they don't have pet free rooms. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Overall, we felt safe and comfortable staying there and would book again but might try and find a pet free hotel first.

Last, this particular property has changed owners several times, each time, the quality of the facilities has deteriorated. I was double charged for my room to the tune of $630.00 of which had I not checked my bank account, they would not have said a word. The young lady that checked me in was a doll (her name is Diamond), however, I did not appreciate her boss (the general manager on duty) hovering over her like she was going to steal $1.00 Despite these things, I will be back. Diamond informed me of my status as a gold Bonvoy member which I plan to take full advantage of! Kudos to Diamond, because of her, I will continue to patronize Residence Inn. Please reward her for her professionalism, excellent customer service, smile and over all gentle, sweet personality!

Very clean hotel people were very nice and everything was perfect for my life's birthday party

After chatting with AI Chat bot a real person helped from the 3rd party booking company and booked us another hotel and covered the difference in cost!

My reservation was canceled. I was notified the day before my arrival. I tried to book another room only to be told there are no more rooms. Once I arrived at the hotel, I found other people having similar problems. I have booked at residence for the past 15 years. I will never use them again. Their communication is poor.

Residence Inn was very easy check-in. Staff was very nice and helpful. Rooms were very clean. Renovations were in process. Dishwasher was never bolted in so couldn't use. Even after calling maintance. They never showed up.

Decent distance from major points of interest. Pool and hot tub were down for 2 out of 3 days. Wi-Fi was so slow my cell phone (which already had bad service) was faster.

Property being remodeled. Sone things are done. The room was not clean at all. Hallways full of building materials. Worst Residence Inn experience I ever had. Staff was nice. Breakfast was good.

The room was very spacious and the staff were extremely helpful and professional. I absolutely loved my time there and would definitely recommend and be back!!!

The hotel was fine. The only complaint was that the pool was closed to be renovated. If I was told before hand , I may of booked elsewhere as we were looking forward to lounging before the concert that evening.

My major complaint was the pool and hot tub was inoperable and it stated on line it would be in operation by May 1, 2026. And it stated all rooms came with a shower/tub combination and ours only had a shower. I was told it cost more for a tub. That's false advertisement. Especially if this was one of the major reasons this hotel was selected. In the future I will email these hotels to inquire of their amenities.

The room is very nice. My only problem is since i been here my internet does not work at all. Which is very very disappointing. Also my first night i stayed i arrived from another state a 3am. Now i had already pre paid for 2 nights. The lady at the front desk threatened to cancel my reservation and charge me a second time for the 2 nights i already pre paid for. I thought this was some scam stuff. I never had a hotel try to charge me twice for my reservation!!!!! This made me very upset. So she was very rude. The other ladies during the day were very nice and warm and welcoming tho. Also i thought the pool would be open but its not. And its okay i know you guys are renovating. The breakfast is delicious.

We elected to stay on first floor where they were remodeling, wasn’t a big deal, nice roomy and spacious, quiet and staff were alway so helpful and sweet!
