Check in was just fine, they have signs all over the lobby area that you’re supposed to read in order to know you’re being charged a key deposit, when check out is, and if you trust their WiFi, that information. We got to our room and it had a musty smell to it, kicked on the AC and opened the door for a little bit and it helped very little. The one comforter had a burn hole in it and both beds had a very noisy plastic protector on them. We did not get good sleep. We packed up and checked out the next morning with no issues. The ice machine worked fine to refill our cooler for softball. When we got done with our softball games, opened the car up and the smell from the hotel leaked out of it. Was it a cheap place to crash for the night, yes…but I would not stay there again.

Friendly staff, clean room, non-smoking rooms, plenty of parking. Bed was very comfortable. Although noted as a 'non-smoking' room, there was a definite odor of Marijuana lingering in the air.

Peeling paint in check in dirty sink in room room wreaked of smoke and the smell permeated our clothes and suitcases had to wash our clothes and spray our suitcases with fabric fresher 2 times
-
The TV did not work right, the refrigerator did not work. The microwave did not work and the sink and bathtub were filthy.

The check in was simple and the staff assisted well. The atmosphere was sketchy. There were people loitering around at night. There were roaches in our room. The bed wasn't the most comfortable and we were afraid to use the sheets. The toilet had issues flushing and for some reason our microwave and refrigerator were outside. Luckily we planned to order out! A staff member tried yanking our door open early in the morning. My lady said that they were trying to put another couple in our room (haha ikr). I'm not picky. I tried to like Knights Inn, but ultimately I felt like I wasted every dime. I've tried a few motels in Merrillville. This was by far the worst.

But they did charge a $20.00 cash deposit
-
price nasty had roaches in there

The service was equally appalling. The man at the front desk was incredibly hostile, aggressive, and misogynistic. Beyond the terrible conditions, there is a deeply concerning situation happening here. The motel appears to have an arrangement where newly released individuals from the nearby prison system are brought to stay. The front desk staff seems to be actively exploiting these men, taking advantage of their limited release funds in what looks like a total racket. This establishment needs to be investigated immediately for both its unsanitary living conditions and the financial exploitation of vulnerable people. Avoid Knight’s Inn of Merrillville at all costs. They must do better.
