Michigan City Inn

There was no shower curtain. Was advised I could come down to get one to put up myself. They double charged my card and the male at the front desk was extremely rude when I brought the issue to him. The room was extremely nice overall. Bed comfortable and it was very clean in the room. It was difficult to find where to check in. Due to check in is at the comfort inn not at the actual hotel itself.

I was not able to stay at this hotel due to all the construction and lack of staff. I walked through the entire building. It smelled awful and their was no lobby or staff. Luckily I was able to get a hold of Expedia and cancel my reserveration.

This place is a hot mess.

Nothing was unable to stay at the property. Property was unfit for anyone to stay in. Facilities was uncleaned and looks abandoned. Pictures posted are false advertisement as that is not how the property looks.

DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY — What We Experienced Was Shocking and Unsafe This was not simply a dirty or poorly maintained hotel. This was the most disturbing hotel experience I have ever had. My wife and I booked the Michigan City Inn specifically so we would not have to drive 2½ hours home after attending a Friday-night wedding. When we arrived at the address provided with our reservation, we found a Comfort Inn & Suites. I went inside to check in and was told that the Michigan City Inn was actually behind that hotel. When I said I could drive around and find it myself, the employee insisted that I would not be able to find the entrance and that someone had to escort me there. That should have been our first warning. Eventually another employee led us through the Comfort Inn, which itself appeared to be under major repair, out the back of the building, across a parking area, past trash, and into another building through rear doors that appeared damaged and were unsecured. What we entered did not look or feel like an operating hotel. The building was eerily deserted. The swimming pool was drained. Furniture was scattered and overturned. There was no power in the common areas, and the only illumination appeared to be natural light coming through skylights. We climbed dirty stairs and walked down a dark hallway past discarded box springs before finally reaching Room 202. The room-key envelope we were handed had multiple other room numbers crossed out and reused. When we entered the room, it felt well over 100 degrees. The curtain was crudely tacked up. The clothes-hanging bar had been ripped out. There was no shower curtain and no towels. The condition of the room and the route we had just taken to reach it made both of us feel profoundly unsafe. ITS A CONDEMNED BUILDING. THERE ARE NO STAFF. THERE IS NO RECEPTION. IT’S O[ERATED REMOTELY FROM ANOTHER BUILDING. THE DOORS ARE PROPPED OPEN WITH LARGE ROCKS. HOMELESS WANDER IN AND OUT. THE POOL AND HOT TUB ARE EMPTY. THERE IS NO RECEPTION, NO SECURITY. YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN. THE ICITY KICKED OUT THE GUESTS AND CLOSED THE PROPERTY. IT’S A CONSTRUCTION SITE WITHOUT CONSTRUCTION…..I MADE VIDEOS

Do not use this hotel! It doesn't have a lobby. You must check in at the hotel next door. It is located behind that hotel. Lighting is very bad - feels like you're in a dark alley you don't belong in. It looks like you're in Compton, CA. A few residents were outside their units - one couple had a mean looking pitbull. (I have a pitbull that's very sweet, so I can say that.) I did not feel comfortable at all getting out of my car. I immediately left the property and found another hotel. Then I needed to dispute the charge through Visa. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!

The place was under construction and the room was dirty. Towels weren’t even provided. I checked in, checked out the place, and left to find a better hotel. There was no was I was spending the night in that room.

This Motel had people living in it. Doors on the outside, the photos are from when it was Ramada back in the day. There’s not even a check in desk. I had to check in on the other side with a different motel. It’s absolute trash and I can’t believe it’s still open to the public period. How it has anything more than a 1 star rating is beyond me. I wish I could give it a 0, false advertisement at its finest. No comforters were in the beds, we didn’t even have towels or batteries for the remote for tv. Claims there was a book, let me tell you they had drained it and it was a creepy ghost town where the indoor “pool” was. That area should have been closed off or locked to the public due to safety regulations. Horrible place for $85!!!! Ridiculous & disgusting Tear this pile of garage to the ground & start over. EVERYTHING needs fixed, redone & upgraded. Get it together and post the pics of what it actually looks like. Outside doors are definitely not advertised. Making it look like a nice place to stay. Super dirty and as stated before people live in these rooms as they were sitting outside their rooms when we arrived and all night long..

This place does not exist. It is a scam. Beware! It has not physical place and you will meet no staff.

STOP!! Don’t book this place!!!! Do not believe the positive ratings!!!!! It’s the worst hotel i have ever seen!!! you will regret booking here! My stay here was by far the worst experience of my life. The entire hotel was trashed and dirty. The staff was very incompetent and didn’t seem to care about our needs or our concerns. Pulling up to this hotel already seemed a bit rough because of how dirty it was outside and around the building . During our walk to this room on the other side of the building we saw trash everywhere. There were old mattress, trash on ground in the hallways, everything smelled, it was just disgusting everywhere, and the room did not get any better. we entered a room that was already given to someone else, we were moved to another equally disgusting room. dirty carpet tub stopper was broke. This hotel should truly be condemned!!! We were affected by the storm and had little option to change plans but i would rather sleep in my dark house than to have stayed there!!! I will be contacting officials to condemn this hell hole of an establishment

I was unable to find this hotel . The address was a closed restaurant. I called the phone number associated and it was a disconnected number..

This place is gross and scary. We did not stay there and still got charged.

The hotel is no longer called Michigan City Inn. It’s now a Comfort Inn and it’s in separate need of upgrade, especially the exterior. Based on the outside of the place we would not have chosen to stay here except for the fact that our reservation was non refundable. It’s shabby, needs paint outside and inside. The ice machine is new and wasn’t even turned on when we arrived but the manager turned it on and it was full by the next morning. The room needed painting especially around the window but the window was new (still had plastic and a sticker on it). It was a comfortable room but there was nothing soundproof about it. The towels were nice and soft. The room smelled like some type of incense which was obnoxious but we became accustomed to it after a while. The lobby reeked of bleach. Slept in so we did not visit the breakfast area.

It was extremely run down and dirty

There was no office. Front of building including restaurant appeared shut down for renovations. No sign out front. Trashy people hanging around various places outside, so I left and found another place to stay.

Couldn't find the entrance and Never checked in. But Expedia wouldn't let me cancel. So you can imagine how pissed I am.
