    Amazing location

We did have a 5-night stay and not once did housekeeping come to freshen the room or bring towels which we thought was interesting. The lodge is nice with a great fireplace and seating around it. The rooms need a facelift. The walls and floors are thin. We would stay there again bc of access to the beach and the peaceful setting.

Asilomar provides access to one of the best beaches in Pacific Grove; it is beautiful. The rooms have never been the reason we visit Asilomar but their condition has deteriorated over the years. The rate of restoration/maintenance is not keeping up with the rotting decks, rusting metal supports, and general lack of attention the grounds and all but the most historically significant buildings suffer from. We all liked the breakfast at Crocker Hall though.

This place is in a spectacular spot but is in need of a severe overhaul! The rooms are beyond dated. Just don't look closely. It's like you stepped into the 60's. That being said they were clean enough. Loved the little deck off the room with chairs. The lodge was quaint and had pool tables and a band playing outside. Hard to navigate the property to find your room. It's huge and a maze. The big draw here is it sits right at the ocean. Look at it as summer camp, not a fancy place. Had a room with a working fireplace, that was a nice touch. They gave you wood and fire starters.

Asilomar conference grounds are on the beach and we had a wonderful time accessing the beach while there. The room was nice and comfortable but not fancy at all.

The interior of the lodge, and building containing rooms are neglected and falling apart. Don't be surprised to see duct tape holding carpet together, frayed carpet with stains in the rooms. Rusted sink and tub drains and outdated formica counter tops. If your into vintage(70s) and no amenities this is your place. Oh, and if you complain about the distressed vintage room. The front deck staff replies what do you expect its a 150 yr old boutique hotel. This is nothing close to what a boutique hotel is and offers. Staff was dismissive of our concerns. Be aware the room you get will not look like picture posted!!!

Asilomar has been a go to for many years, and this time around the room was even better then expected spent a great birthday/anniversary at the location. Parking can be a bit tricky but other than that staff very accommodating, breakfast (good), room good and balcony was good. Highly recommended if you enjoy the woodsy feel and listening to the ocean waves…

What a beautiful stay! A nature oasis! A camp feel, rustic environment with warm & friendly staff. A beautiful legacy of history!

Beautiful grounds great location for parking 17 mile drive. Would definitely stay here again. Only challenges/complaints that we ran into during our visit were 1) they run out of mini fridges to add to the room 2) there were no microwaves to use to reheat food 3) when trying to sit together as a family for dinner the one place in our building was already in here and the nearby buildings didn’t have a table with chairs so the only option was outside (which it was a little too chilly for) or to push together the desks in our room and sit with two people in chairs, and two on the beds

the property is a little outdated, but it is right next to the beach. I enjoyed my walk in the nature

NO AC! I wish that was posted on here. I would have never booked if I would have known. Rooms were very outdated and dirty.

The good, the bad and the ugly. The good - the grounds around the property, which is huge, are well kept. There are a few trails that you can take even to the beach. We found out by accident that there are concerts with food and drinks for sale each Friday during Summer. We thought it was only for the guests staying there but it is open to the whole town, so you have to get there early. The bad - I was traveling with my daughter so I asked for two beds. Not sure if it was because we booked through Expedia but we got a room way at the end of the property. You walk about a half-mile to get coffee (there was a coffee maker in the room but more on that) or to speak to the front desk. Also, the picture on their site shows a balcony a two chairs. There was no balcony. The ugly - The room is outdated which was not a big deal with clean beds and no stains on the carpet but there was a huge stain in the bathroom door. Also, no hand soap. The two bottle holder near the sink was empty. There was mold above the tub. The sink faucet was dripping water. My daughter was taking a shower when she find out that the shampoo bottle was empty. Good thing we always carry a bar of soap. I told the front desk but they never sent anyone to fix these things and no daily housekeeping. With all of this, did a dare using their coffee maker? Nope. Would I recommend staying here, only if you love the outdoors but if you care paying for a not-so-cheap room and getting your money's worth, I would not.

Restaurant was closed on our arrival for a wedding. Not told in advance so messed our plans a bit. Breakfast very expensive $23 p/p

Just be aware this is like a camp/retreat vibe. The cabins are bare bones, which was fine for us. I marked it down only cause I think it could be a little cleaner? It’s old carpet and linoleum vines. Plus our sliding door lock was broken and was held together with a pretty janky set up. But I’d stay here again, as long as you just need a place to sleep. Don’t expect to lounge around the room much.

Beach boardwalk, multiple parking lots, would have liked to see restaurant open later hours, We tried to have dinner and they were not serving dinner on Saturday, pool is outdoors no clear hours of operations.
