Monterey Beach Hotel, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Great food

OK this is the proverbial “lipstick on a pig” hotel / motel. It has apparently been 5 different hotels - owners / chaon groups prior to the current iteration. Yes, the location is quite nice, but they have just painted over decades of coastal decay and pass it off as some kind of luxury property / prices. It is NOT, do not be fooled by Marriott labels. Dead rats in parking lot, vagrants rummaging thru dumpsters outside, insane noise from the interstate highway 100 yards away. You can do much better in the area, this place isn’t it.

This was one of the best hotels we have stayed at. The view is next level gorgeous! The staff are incredible! The food at the restaurant is amazing! Loved freebies like free wine, s’mores kits and treats and coffee in the morning. I highly recommend this hotel!

Staff was adequately sufficient. They did there job and that’s it. It was neither friendly nor unfriendly. The furnishing were worn with torn pillows and bed was uncomfortable. Outside was JUST maintained with tib bits of debris in the sand and other things that needed picked up. Walls were thin and could hear every single movement of other patrons. Bathroom was tiny!!! Beach was littered with debris and dead birds. Seemed a bit like a budget hotel with high end perks to try to make it seem special and justify the ridiculous price. Definitely not worth the money spent.

It was an awful experience and we were exhausted. The room itself was lovely, nicely decorated and clean. The lounge and bar area was also nice. Staff were lovely. However, due to the lack of sleep I can’t give it more than one star and would never return,

It was beautiful! It was just too cold in July for me which had nothing to do with the hotel!

Dinner in the upstairs restaurant was very good!

I didn’t like how the water got all over the place in the bathrooms

It’s right on the beach. Close to eating establishments. An ocean view can be 90 degree view from your window. Meaning in front and either one side or the other. You can walk out further and see the whole ocean.

The lobby area is very impressive looking with beautiful ocean views! However, the exterior is weather beaten and the pool area is not kept clean. Rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. However, bathroom was very small and the shower leaks on to the floor. See above.

Firstly the staff were all very kind and attentive. Kids loved the pool. Towel rack at pool was filthy and unstocked. The draw for me was the ocean front property which was great but the beach down below was dirty with trash, graffiti and deceased seals and birds. Rooms are tiny, had hair on our bathroom counter and sheets did not feel clean. Towels are old, pillows old and useless however when I called for extras they came right away. My biggest negative is the cost for what you get and HIDDEN FEES. FYI parking fee is very high, pet fee also has an undisclosed cleaning fee and tax on top of an already high pet fee. Do not recommend.

Right on the beach! Amazing toiletries. Bi Sur After Rain is a great body wash. Great aesthetics

This Hotel is Highway Hotel locate at the entrance of a freeway. The Hotel is located between two public parking lots to which locks have access. The Hotel charges $50 plus tax daily compare your can in an unsecured parking area. They also have hotel fees which are not worth the amenities. The fire pit area was dated and bird poop dirty. The fire pit closest to our room did not work properly. In addition we paid for an ocean view room but, our room was on the first floor with a view to the retaining wall. Just a heads up, the hotel a few miles from the main attractions of Monterey.
