Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles Monterey Park

I fully paid for my stay through Expedia, but the hotel charged me an additional amount that was the same as the room rate I had already paid through Expedia. I was not clearly told whether this was a deposit or another room charge. It has been seven days since checkout, and I still haven’t received the money back or a clear explanation. Very disappointed with this experience.

I enjoyed my stay here! The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is well put together and always cleaned! My only issue was the sliding bathroom door. The bathroom itself was gorgeous but staying in the room with two other people and having a sliding bathroom door with a visible gap in the door was a little violating😂 It wasn’t a issue, everything else made up for it!

We could check in early. People were courteous. Room was modern, clean, fresh and comfortable.

Will recommend this property next time.

I didn't like the fact that I don't know how much the incidental fee is up front.

We stayed two nights. Prepaid through Expedia then got a charge for $162 to our card. Having to dispute that to get refunded.

Because of the overbooking, our family of five had to split up into separate rooms. We were traveling with babies, and this completely changed the family vacation we had planned. I don’t get to see my grandchildren very often, so this trip was special to me. Instead of spending that time together, we ended up separated, and I honestly felt robbed of those memories. I had even messaged the hotel through Expedia to let them know we’d be arriving late, but it appears that message never reached the hotel. I’m not sure whether the problem was Expedia, the hotel, or a breakdown in communication between the two, but it created a very frustrating experience. After this trip, I don’t think I’ll be booking through Expedia again. I do want to give the Marriott staff credit. They apologized, handled the situation professionally, and ultimately comped our room, which I truly appreciated. Even so, it didn’t undo the inconvenience or the lost time with my family. I hope Marriott and Expedia can improve their communication so other families don’t have to experience the same situation.
