For years, I visited New Haven and struggled to find a good hotel. About three years ago, I found the Marcel and it's now my first choice. The building is very cool and the in-room tech is fun. The staff is really great and if you meet Brianna at the front desk, you're in for an even greater treat. I prefer the waterview rooms, but I've stayed in a lightwell room and it was very interesting. They might bother people who feel claustrophobic, however, in that there are no windows, just the lightwell.

The building itself is a master piece. The public spaces and guest rooms are well maintained. A special experience for anyone interested in architecture. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed my stay. I arrived on Friday, August 31, 2026 at a time when the Hilton online check-in system was down world-wide! The staff did a good job in manually checking me in as I needed to get to a function that evening. Due to the online outage there were issues with my room: the air-conditioning was not working, the lights did not function properly and the shades were off-line. There was no tea (black, caffinated) in the room which was a disappointment to me. As an architect I have always appreciated Marcel Breuer's work so it was a good experience.

Great restaurant, phenomenal staff and green, energy efficient property. Brianna at the front desk is the best.

The hotel building itself is gorgeous. Beautifully restored and decorated, comfortable beds, spotlessly clean, pet friendly, delicious restaurant, extremely helpful and nice staff. Sustainable practices throughout the hotel- the wooden keys, refillable glass water bottle, automatic lights, etc. felt simultaneously elevated and practical. Convenient off of I-95 for anyone passing through! The surrounding location left something to be desired. Basically in the middle of a paved parking lot immediately next to ikea. Yes it is right across from the water, and is a walking path along the waterfront, but it was littered with broken glass, and when we arrived after a long day on the road at 1030pm, there was drag racing happening across the street. So while the hotel itself was fantastic, I thought the price was a bit steep to essentially be sleeping surrounded by a polluted industrial park.

Super clean, great restaurant, friendly staff, comfortable.

Nice view of the bay.

Altough it was amazing to see the Marcel transformed into a hotel, but we were VERY DISAPPOINTED that the cabinet drawer had unclean sweater shirts and underwear left behind by the previous guest. It left us doubting about the cleanliness of the facility....

Uniquely beautiful design. Very clean, friendly staff, nice amenities. The hotel, especially the lobby floor, has a great vibe. Beautifully done.
