The Blake Hotel

A heavyset front desk employee told us there were no rooms available until the 4:00 p.m. check-in time. We accepted that and waited in the lobby. However, we soon noticed other guests arriving after us and checking in immediately. I asked several times, but she repeatedly said, "No rooms are available," without offering any explanation or solution. After waiting nearly 4 hours, my daughter became sick with a headache and nausea from the long trip. When a younger lady came on duty, I asked again and found out that I had wrongly booked an Accessible room. Only after I specifically asked whether *any other room type* was available did she tell me that other rooms were available and immediately checked us in. What disappointed me most was that the heavy-set lady never once asked if we would accept another room type. Had she done so, we could have checked in hours earlier. Instead, she watched us wait for hours, saw that my daughter was unwell, and never tried to help. I deeply felt discrimination and arrogance; we were the only Asian family during the check-in time. I've never experienced such poor customer service. I expected professionalism and basic courtesy. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had, and I will not return.

The Haven was comfortable to stay at but I saw rats running across the corridor during my stay.

The selection of snacks in the lobby was extremely limited, and there was no milk available for coffee.

The food at the restaurants was delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is great. Beautiful spacious rooms. Ice machine was difficult to find. There were no signs pointing to the direction to where it’s located on the floor.

Smells great; clean and woodsy in the city

We liked everything about the hotel. Staff was helpful. There were very nice amenities. The room was beautiful clean and had a wonderful features, including a kitchen. The bed was very comfortable. We will definitely return.

We truly enjoyed our stay! The hotel was beautiful, clean, and very welcoming. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing visit. The staff was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

The Blake Hotel exceeded our expectations! We booked this hotel after canceling another reservation in Madison near the beach area. We could not be more satisfied with our choice! The location was ideal for delicious dining, checking out impressive Yale museums, local shopping, etc. The hotel front desk staff were polite & extremely helpful. On our last full day in CT, we decided to extend our stay, and they made it super simple to do so. The cleaning staff were extremely impressive! We would call for extra blankets or more coffee, and they were at our door ASAP. Furthermore, I have never stayed at a hotel that did not rush you to clean the room daily, but at this hotel it didn’t matter what time of day we left our room, we always returned to it cleaned. They deserve a raise! Lastly, the overall decor and atmosphere were exceptional. We will stay here again in the future, and recommend it to friends & family.

Amazing location in New Haven!!! The check in was not very friendly or informative. The lobby and furnishings are beautiful and thoughtfully arranged. There were lots of disappointments, like the broken equipment in the gym and the tepid coffee in the lobby. Despite this the comfortable bed and location are enough to keep me returning.

Large rooms

Beautiful hotel, fantastic restaurant on site "Siena". Room was beautiful but TV did NOT work, kept tuning out and staff not able to fix. Would be great if they offered daily breakfast not just weekends. Lobby is lovely, staff is very attentive!

The gym is fantastic! Not a dislike - but the hotel does not have breakfast service. Just needs to be noted

Only suggestions… Get soundbars for the TVs. Built in TV speakers are bad enough without being in encased boxes. And with such nice rooms, cover all the details and add dimmer switches. Otherwise, outstanding!

Otherwise, we were very happy with the hotel.
