Check in/out was very easy. The room was simple and clean. I called the front desk regarding the a/c. The temperature in the room was warm and the wall control said low battery. A maintenance technician came up quickly but didn’t change the battery and didn’t lower the temperature. It was very uncomfortable so we decided to leave. We didn’t even spend the night

This is a great place to stay because of it's location. The hotel is dated and the room was super small. The room was bland, not a single picture on the walls and very blah. The mattress was rather "worn" and needs to be replaced. The water pressure wasn't the best so we made it work. Overall, I would stay here again because of its local to everything.

Muy centrico, cuartos que miran hacia la calle son muy ruidosos.

Great place, the receptionist was great Joann was so welcoming and knowledgeable of the area. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Very kind staff and clean rooms

Staying here was awesome!

Wish there had been a mini fridge in the room. Otherwise great.

Good location

Bathrooms were small, as we expected in an older building. However, they were clean. We loved the area!

The building is 125 years old and in need of modernisation. However it classed as two stars so you won’t be expecting royalty. Plus side it’s a great location and a reasonable price. Minus is its age, amenities and a noisy location. The double glazed windows have gaps around them defeating the object. So depending upon your requirements you go for it or spend a little more for extra comfort.

Hotel St James is perfectly located in NYC. It is a wonderful hotel with amazing staff. We arrived early before our check in and we were allowed to check in early. Even if the room wouldn’t have been ready they have a place to store your luggage until it is which was fantastic. We settled in and were just a few steps away from Time Square! Love the location. Check out was equally wonderful and we did get a Late check out time upon request. They will even let you keep your luggage there for the day you leave if you have a late flight. 10 out of 10 recommend.

That said, a few things stood out as less than ideal: the Wi-Fi in my room was spotty at best, the king bed was oddly short for a king—I'm 5'10" and my feet actually hung off the end—and the motorized curtains had a mind of their own, occasionally opening and closing on their own. Even with those hiccups, I was really happy with my stay overall.

Nice location if you are going to NY. Property can use renovation but overall satisfactory for the price. Great location

OK - when I go to NYC to visit my son, I just need a bed to sleep in, a shower to wash up in, and a convenient location to be in the city. This hotel filled those needs. I am not looking for the hotel to be the center of my vacation, but basically a location that I can crash and refuel for the next day. I would love to have a free breakfast in the morning and this would have given it a 5 star rating, but the small hotels that I stay in in NYC are just convenient bed rooms to me. Yes, I need clean. Yes, I need comfort. Yes, I need quiet. Those are things that are basics that without, this hotel's ratings would have fallen off a cliff, but like I said, my needs are very little on a hotel in NYC. Give me those items at a descent price and you will get 4 stars. If you want to hit all the tourist hot spots in NYC, then park yourself in midtown at a hotel like this and save some money and wake up early and go to bed late, this hotel is perfect. Rooms are small (but I don't care because I am a solo traveler). So please note I rate on my own needs and whether they are being met. Solo traveler or couple wanting a place to just sleep, this hotel will meet your needs. If you are looking for the Ritz, then stay at the Ritz. If you want to save money and don't mind small hotels that provide only the basics because you don't need anything else, then this is the place. CLEAN, COMFORTABLE, QUIET. Bingo you found your match.
