Frequently asked questions
How far in advance should I book hotel rooms for a team offsite in New York City?
For a group stay in New York City, booking three to six months ahead gives you better odds of room availability and helps lock in rates. If your offsite falls during a busy season or you need a large block of rooms, even earlier is smart. Engine Groups handles bookings of 9 or more rooms, and you can book 8 or fewer rooms self-serve through the platform.
What amenities can my team expect at these hotels?
Most properties on this list offer wifi, on-site dining, and fitness facilities, though specifics vary by hotel. Parking in New York City is often available but can be limited or come at a premium, so check with each property. Many hotels also provide business services and flexible meeting setups to support your agenda.
What should I compare when choosing a hotel for a company retreat?
Start with the number of meeting rooms and total event square footage to make sure the property can handle your group size and agenda. Then compare guest-room capacity, location relative to your team's arrival points, and on-site amenities like dining and breakout space. The New York Marriott Marquis offers about 125,000 square feet of event space and 48 meeting rooms, while the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel has about 36,000 square feet and 33 meeting rooms.
How do I get my team to and from New York City for the offsite?
Most groups fly into one of the airports serving New York City and take ground transportation into Manhattan or the surrounding area. If you want to minimize travel time, look for hotels near Penn Station or Grand Central for easy rail access, or consider properties closer to the airport if your agenda is short. Engine's platform lets you search hotels across the city and compare locations alongside meeting space and room capacity.
How does Engine help with both guest rooms and meeting space for my offsite?
Engine handles the guest-room side through Engine Groups for stays of 9 or more rooms, and you can book 8 or fewer rooms self-serve on the platform. For the meeting and event space, you can find and request venues through Engine Spaces, which connects planners to thousands of properties with the square footage and room count you need. That means you can source both pieces of your offsite in one place.
