Great staff and facility. The Saturday night roof party disrupted our sleep. I suggest if you are a weekend traveler you insist on a room away from the third floor just below the fourth floor dance floor.

Really poor standard of cleanliness. Terrible service. Beds not made, broken sofa bed and cockroaches in the room. Had to ask staff multiple times to clean the room. Complained to staff at reception who said they couldn’t do anything (they didn’t even get the room cleaned to remove the dead cockroach when we asked). I also wrote to the manager as advised by reception who didn’t respond. I’ve stayed in better youth hostels. This is not worth the 500$ price tag.

Have stayed multiple times, never disappointed. Appreciate the small details. As an example, I’m a tea drinker. Love that there’s an electric tea pot and not just a coffee machine in the room, as well as a good selection of tea bags. Seems minor, but find it’s very thoughtful. Rooms are quiet and clean. Have stayed in many of their options, from terrace suites to standard queen rooms. Never an issue in any of them. With family here in the neighborhood, I’ll be back often.

Location convenient to commute to mid-town - 10 minute walk to subway with great Manhattan skyline view along the way. Breakfast starting at 8:00 a.m. on weekdays means I didn't get to have breakfast. Too late start for business travellers. No desk work space in rooms even though lots of room for a desk. The laundry room was under refurbishment and not usable for a while. I had to use a local laundry (10 minutes walk away) during my entire 26 day stay. I asked reception to report to management. Took a while for the receptionist to understand that just telling me there were great laundries in the area wasn't the point I was trying to make. Eventually got him to agree to report my unhappiness with lack of laundry, and lack of this being noted when booking. There was no follow-up reply. This was not listed by property when I booked. - very poor customer service on this point.

Room, location, vibe. No housekeeper serviced my room on the second day, and I had a lot of recycling piling up in my trash bin. I had the sign requesting housekeeping on my door handle from 9 am to 3 pm that day, and no one noticed or came by.

Box House is still my go-to NYC Hotel, I love the rooms - they feel like living in NYC, the beds are always comfortable and the rooms are clean. The staff at the front desk. Not friendly, not hospitable, it's like they don't understand the basics of hospitality, save 2 employees. They need maybe a training bootcamp from management. Furthermore, there was a private event on the roof the last night which was basically a night club, which made the elevators unusable and worst of all, the noise unbearable - bass reverberating across all floors. Not sure how up to code that was but thankfully theylved my room (it was still noisy).

Beautiful hotel in an excellent location.

2bd apartment style room was spacious and included a kitchen. Location was within walking distance of restaurants and shops. Also nearish to LaGuardia Airport which was the point of picking it. Room was up a flight of stairs which was not evident from the web site when the reservation was made. Bathroom was oldish, the shower was tiny, and no place to put toiletries. I tripped over a step between two hallways and injured my knee.
