Frequently asked questions
How do I choose the right size hotel for my team offsite in Austin?
Match the hotel's meeting space and guest rooms to your headcount and agenda. For a group of 50 with full-day sessions and breakouts, a property like Hilton Austin (40 meeting rooms, about 112,000 square feet of event space) gives you room to spread out. If your offsite is smaller or lighter on programming, a hotel with fewer meeting rooms may be a better fit.
Should I book a hotel near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport for a company retreat?
Staying near the airport serving Austin can simplify logistics if most of your team is flying in, especially for a short offsite. Hotels closer to downtown offer more dining and activity options within walking distance. Weigh convenience against what your group will do outside of meeting time.
How far in advance should I book rooms for a team offsite?
For a stay of 9 or more rooms, Engine Groups handles the room block, and booking three to six months ahead gives you the best selection. For 8 rooms or fewer, you can book self-serve on Engine. Either way, earlier booking means more choice in meeting space and room availability.
What should I compare when choosing between these hotels?
Look at the number of meeting rooms, total event square footage, and how the space is laid out for your agenda. Compare guest-room counts to make sure the property can house your whole team, and check what's on-site (restaurants, fitness centers, outdoor space) so the group has options between sessions. You can find and request meeting and event space for these properties through Engine Spaces.
What makes a hotel a good fit for a company retreat?
A good offsite hotel has enough guest rooms to house the team, enough meeting rooms for your sessions and breakouts, and on-site amenities that keep people fed and comfortable without leaving the property. Fairmont Austin Gold Experience, for example, offers 30 meeting rooms and about 140,000 square feet of event space, so larger groups have room to work and regroup. Facilities like dining, lounges, and outdoor areas give the team places to connect outside of formal programming.
