The Lodge Red Hook

Didn’t like the breakfast. Bagged with no options. If you have diet restrictions you’re out of luck. Last day I had a bagel with cream cheese. The bagel and cheese was completely dried out. Like it sat out for a couple of days. Showed it to the front desk. She just said sorry that happened. Asked if the breakfast was made on the premises and she said she didn’t know.

The room was comfortable enough, if a bit small, and it didn't have one of those rigid, half-door showers I detest, but it also didn't have much of anything. There is a K-pod type coffee brewer, but they supply only the blandest budget Maxwell House pods. There is no ice machine on premises; one is expected to use the ice trays that are in the freezer portion of the refrigerator. There is no microwave. There are no glasses, plastic o otherwise, only the paper coffee cups. I inquired at the front desk for some sort of drinking vessel more appropriate for wine or cocktails, and they didn't have any. They have vouchers for the breakfast, but I can't imagine anyone coming in off the street for it: it is in a small, basement room, the food options are the most limited I have ever seen at a hotel claiming 'breakfast included',, no real options for heated foods, and everything appeared to be premade. The parking area is spacious enough, but I would not make the error I did in paying $27 for a space when there were plenty of spaces available on the street in front of and very near the hotel. Lastly, there are almost no dining options within a reasonable walking distance from this hotel. NOT recommended

No ice machine, so that was a thing. But overall, a great option of you need to be in that area

So clean, so comfortable, an amazing location. A quiet, awesome , sleepy hollow in Brooklyn. The breakfast that was called, Up and Go.....the bagels had layer upon layer of cream cheese, just a bit too much.

BREAKFAST SCAM : A MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT We chose this hotel because of the continental breakfast advertised on Booking, which was presented as a buffet. When we arrived for breakfast, we found an empty room with individual paper bags and no choice whatsoever Inside: a cheese sandwich, a small portion of fruit salad, a tiny container of oats with nothing suitable to prepare or eat them with, a miniature croissant or pain au chocolat, and plastic cutlery. For drinks: only water and coffee. No orange juice, no hot chocolate, no alternatives. Even jam was provided despite there being no bread. The dietary issue was even more unacceptable. My son is lactose intolerant. After we explained this, his cheese sandwich was taken away and replaced with… another cheese bagel. No proper alternative was offered. We spoke with several other travelers at breakfast, who were equally disappointed. We therefore contacted the manager, Obed, directly, but no solution was offered. At that point, our disappointment turned into a genuine feeling of being MISLED. We booked based on the photos and the breakfast that was advertised. Had the breakfast been honestly described as a basic grab-and-go bag with no choice, we would have chosen another hotel. A hotel is, above all, a service. Here, the service advertised is simply not the service provided, and management offered no solution when we raised the issue. Had we known about the condition and quality of the breakfast, we would have canceled our reservation. We honestly would have preferred to pay an additional $15-20 per person for a proper buffet breakfast rather than receive what feels like a token meal. We travel frequently, both throughout Europe and in much less affluent countries in Asia. Even in a small and extremely poor village in Vietnam, we enjoyed breakfasts that were far superior to what has been offered here !

The room was in a basement. During the booking there was no indication that I'm paying almost $300 for a basement room. There was no option to change it. I was not given this information during booking. There was many hair in the clean towels, Basement had a funky smell.

The location was great for walking to the QM2 for departure to England. Breakfast was a joke, and a bad joke at that!

Exceptional

Clean room. Great location for my needs. The breakfast was laughable. Bag breakfast handed out with a fairly ridiculous “meal” and hot beverage service in a cramped dungeon room. Don’t count on breakfast there. Really was ridiculously bad.

We really enjoyed our stay! Staff were SUPER helpful and accommodating. Location felt safe near both the police and fire stations. Little bit of a hike to the nearest subway station, or a quick Lyft ride. Would stay again!

Pleasant

Clean, safe and fairly close to food but in a very mixed use neighborhood. Many industrial places nearby but the hotel seemed like a diamond in the rough. Small lobby. Breakfast was the worst with cold ham and cheese barely in the box. Server wasn’t interested in helping or even talking and did not understand basic questions

Solid location. On sight parking for cheap. Room had everything we needed and was clean. Would definitely stay again.

It was good for the price.
