No air conditioning Too hot

Charming hotel but could use a refresh. The bathroom sink was clogged for a day, and one day there was no hot water. We were thankful that the room was air conditioned but the AC was a noisy contraption with a big white hose sticking out the window. The staff were kind, friendly and professional.

It looks beautiful online They had an outbreak of Legionnaire’s disease and never informed me. When I saw an article in the news I reached out for a refund and still never heard from them. Eventually booking.com refunded me. I still have not heard from the hotel.

Nice old hotel. Basic rooms. No amenities except a coffee bar open at 7am in lobby which converted to an alcohol bar in the evening. No dining options or room service. Be prepared to go out for all meals.

Great bed, great staff, good location

Pay attention this is not a generic NYC place! We liked the location and the general vibe of a restored seminar with lots of endearing quirks and found furniture. The grounds are nice outside with some open spaces. No restaurant to speak of although the neighborhood has many. There were two downsides: two different false fire alarms (in the daytime thankfully) AND a supplemental A/C unit that stood on the floor and exhausted out the window via a big flexible duct. It was LOUD and made it hard to sleep. Are all the rooms like this? Oh and the hotel was in the New York Times the days we were there with claims of Legionnaire's Disease but that might have been disgruntled labor. Not sure if we will stay here again.

The rooms are large and the location cannot be beat! Would stay here again. Great for travel with kids.

Beautiful building, wonderful location, but most rooms do not have air-conditioning. I was lucky enough to get a lovely corner room with an air conditioner, but the lobby and patio were filled with people complaining the hotel did not have air-conditioning and the and the majority of the rooms do not have a built-in unit, as I did. The staff could not have been nicer, when there was a problem with my hot water they sent somebody right up. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, but I would insist on a room with air-conditioning.

Staff was great!

Worst experience. The hotel told me they could not give me a room because the A/C was broken. I had to book another hotel last minute.

The bad: older decor / rooms, the central air conditioning was not working in our room so we had a window AC unit which struggle to cool our big room down. We had to keep the bathroom door closed at all times to help the unit cool down. Also , since it was a windows unit , we had to leave the curtains open to run the AC and the problem was we were on the first floor . Very inconvenient

I stayed for a night for my wife’s birthday, and it was a fantastic choice! It felt like stepping back in time. The rich history really made it special. They had plenty of amenities, but since it was just a day, we didn’t get to use them all. I was really hoping to try out the pier gym, but I didn’t have enough time. I’ll definitely come back next time!
