The Gallivant Times Square

The hotel is in an excellent location, just a few minutes walk from Times Square and many subway stations, restaurants, famous shops and the hussle and bussle of Times Square, yet situated on a relatively quiet street. The staff is warm, friendly, and always ready to help with anything you need. We were a family of four and stayed in the queen suite, which is like a small suite divided into two separate rooms (without a connecting door). The suite was tight for 4, we stayed 5 nights but the price was unbeatable! The beds were very comfortable, and the blackout curtains are great at keeping out the morning light. The hotel does not have a dining room/restaurant. However, there is a gym where you can get hot or cold water from a dispenser. The room comes with a small coffee machine. Long wait for elevators, sometimes up to 10 minutes. Need more wall hooks and hangers in the bathroom and in the rooms, especialy in the family room where it gets crowded for 4.

Do not stay here. The rooms are used and abused, with years and years of poor maintenance. The place feels swampy and humid, towels would never dry. Small, no space, and the pictures they have in the posting are a total bait and switch. Probably from 25 years ago. Also very frustrated with the fact that there was absolutely zero cancelation option to change your mind even many weeks prior to the reservation date. This is not industry standard, and I'll likely not use this service to book a hotel ever again.

The best thing about our stay is its location which is very close to all attractions and train stations. Its walkable distance to Times Square and very lively location . There is no WiFi for the guests. The Air conditioner makes a lot of noise and you can’t sleep with that loud sound. The doors are very old and you can’t sleep hear people closing their doors very loud. The room we stayed lack the fire detector and we felt a bit less safe. The cleaning crew were good and really cleaned the room very well. Gym is fine but not very clean.

The room was clean and comfortable, the washroom was a bit on the small side but functional. Stayed on a higher floor and heard some noise from passerby’s but not to bad. Had cold water at night for a shower and nothing could be done but to wait. All in all pretty great experience because of how close it was to everything.

The room was terribly old and dirty. I felt like I had to wear shoes since I didn’t want my feet to touch the floor. They only ever gave me one washcloth and never replaced my towels when they came to clean every day. I had to keep calling the front desk and asking for towels. It was so bad that I found myself looking to book other hotels while I was staying - I most definitely will never ever book or stay there again.

The reception she help me to update the room, but the room they send me the first day was terrible falling apart. Everything was dirty and the fan from the bathroom was not working and the roof was peeling was smelling mold. I glad the first staff member she did upgrade. Did thank here. She care.

To make matters worse, the water was completely turned off for one night, meaning we were unable to shower or properly get ready. The rooms also desperately need to be repainted and updated, as the overall condition felt run-down and not what we expected for the price. Overall, there were multiple issues throughout our stay that made the experience frustrating. I would not recommend staying here unless the hotel makes some major improvements.

its right there on time square, around the cnr from Krispy Kream shop so easy to get if you want to stay in that part of the city. The Staff was OUTSTANDING, Can't complain, so nice. I felt safe walking by myself there and around, super close to the metro and clean enough. The TV Worked, there was a desk. The bed was actually very confortable. THe rooms are definitely in a dire need of renovation, we are talking peeling walls but whatever. and the room was so small (Even though I had a queen room) there was nowhere to open my suitcase I had to open and close it all the time. The bAthroom was also very very small. But with that said, was very doable cause it was quiet cheap for NYC. The Aircon in the room was SUPER noisy maybe because its old. Not Hotel Noisy, I mean extra noisy at times and the area is already noisy so if you are senstive to noise maybe that's not a place for you. I didn't bother complaining so maybe was only my room and another room would have been better, I will never know. Maybe was only my room not sure.

The hotel is at a great location, staff were kind and the room was clean.

Bugs in the Shower, made for a very uncomfortable "cleanse." Won't stay here ever again.

Great location and good accommodations for the price.

We checked out hours after checking in due to poor conditions. Although the lady at the front desk was extremely sweet and understanding, the hotel manager was not. I still had to fund a one nights stay and early check in fee and resort fee despite my detailed explanation of why we chose not to stay with several photos.

It amazes me that a hotel in 2026 would have such shoddy internet service. For business reasons, I needed to use the internet every morning and it was sparse at best. I either had to work in the lobby, where the internet was working or use my phone as a hot spot. First we were told it wasn't working on a high floor, then we were told it had to be rebooted but either way it was a stress I really didn't need. The hotel itself was well located, but then again, it's old and getting the hot water to flow in the morning took literally 10 minutes. I doubt I will ever stay there again..

Nothing apart from location The staff were rude and unhelpful throughout our stay. We were told that a baby cot was not available, apparently due to Covid, which was particularly disappointing when travelling with a baby. One of the lifts wasn’t working, resulting in a 15-minute wait. To make matters worse, we were then asked to pay extra for a slightly larger room, despite the room we had already booked being extremely small—especially considering how much we had already paid. Overall, the experience was very disappointing and did not feel like good value for money.

Very well located but looks old and I didn’t like the room I had to upgrade

No any toothpaste or toothbrush. They dont have air freshener .

There was a pipe that burst in the room next to us while we were out and the room was partially flooded when we got back. The staff was helpful and quickly got us into a new room, but it was a lot smaller room/bed and I still paid the same rate. Probably should have been comp’d something? No complaints about the staff however.

This building is falling apart. Door locks broken. Ceiling drywall falling. Window-mounted A/C units making loud and inconsistent noises. Sound pouring in from outside. Water leaks from light fixtures causing half the lobby to be walled off. Elevators out of service. Luggage stored (by the very kind bellhop) out in the lobby hallway. Lobby smells like smoke. Paint peeling and cracks on every wall. And charging a premium rate! The only nice thing I can say is the location was perfect and wildly convenient for my visit.
