Cute boutique hotel, great location service could be improved

I've stayed at the Ludlow many times, but this will be my last. At check-in, I was placed in a room right next to the elevator. Realizing this, I went down to the front desk and asked for a change, since I'm a light sleeper. They moved me, but the new room had a bed that felt like it was on the verge of collapsing. I went down a second time and asked to upgrade to a different room type. When I mentioned that I'd stayed here many times and had never encountered this before, the manager replied, "I'm unsure what you would like. The first room was next to the elevator, but if you had stayed here so many times, you would know that our elevators don't chime upon opening." I stopped her and said, "I don't want to argue. I simply want to upgrade to a different room, because the bed in the new one is resting on two wooden planks." Her response felt unnecessary — no guest is tracking whether an elevator chimes, and it was a strange first reaction to a request to pay for an upgrade. After getting the key to a third room, a bellman walked me to the elevator to let me in. While waiting, I asked, "How's your day been?" and was met with complete silence. I've never had an experience like this at the Ludlow, and it's disappointing, since it's one of my favorite hotels in the city. I have no desire to return. Customer service to a loyal customer could have gone a long way

Unfortunately, very little about the stay met our expectations. We had previously stayed at The Beekman and were told this was its sister hotel, but the difference between the two properties was worlds apart. We paid $1,250 per night and were extremely disappointed. The room was so small that we could barely open a suitcase, the queen-size bed took up most of the space, and the tiny bathroom was almost impossible to move around in once the door was open. Even the coffee machine was inside the closet and had to be placed near the floor to reach an outlet. The entire room felt claustrophobic and gave us so much anxiety that we could not comfortably spend any time there beyond sleeping. The hotel itself was extremely busy and messy, with the lobby constantly occupied by people who did not appear to be hotel guests, making it feel more like a crowded hostel than a luxury hotel. The elevators were very slow, outdated, and regularly smelled of food because they were also used by the staff. For this price, the overall experience and standard were completely unacceptable.

Definitely an expensive stay, but honestly, worth it if you’re someone who really enjoys boutique hotels. The views were pretty dang cool, and the room had a great atmosphere. The tub was easily one of my favorite parts of the stay - after walking around for hours every day, coming back and soaking in the tub was absolutely perfect. The service was fantastic from start to finish, and there were plenty of great food and drink options both in the hotel and within walking distance. You really don’t have to go far to have a great time. My biggest complaint is the bed. For roughly $1,200 a night, I would have really preferred a king-size bed rather than a queen. My other complaint would be the elevators. They were pretty slow, and they seemed to be packed with people half the time, which meant waiting even longer for the next one. Not exactly ideal when you're trying to get somewhere on time. Other than those two things, though, fantastic stay. The service, location, atmosphere, views, and overall experience made it a really memorable trip. Thanks again for the high-quality service!

Location The bar staff. Every time I stay here I get a bar person who I would not say is very friendly. To the point I wonder if I should stay here. She lacks Personality and friendliness. I always wonder why is she in hospitality
