The Merchant Hotel Lower East Side, Sonder by Marriott Bonvoy

This hotel was a lovely surprise, quiet, roomy and nicely designed. The rooms are very spacious for NYC, plus we had a great view. The staff were friendly and helpful too. It provided exactly what we needed for a family weekend trip.

Great option in LES. Staff is wonderful, location is good, and amenities are market standard. What’s more to like?

This will be my top choice for all my NYC stays!

My wife and I stayed for one night awesome decor, beautiful rooms, friendly staff the only issue I we had when we got to the room. They’re very small. There’s no place to put your luggage. There’s only one desk with a chair. There is absolutely no place for luggage. It would all have to go on the floor. Don’t get me wrong with the place is beautiful. It just wasn’t for us. It’s too small for a big price when you have suitcases backpacks there’s just no room. And another thing they don’t tell you is there is a new $30 add-on when you get there I did not see it. They said it was there It was lodging. There was no pen and paper in the room. But the location was great. The building was beautiful. The rooms were beautiful. Just depends on how much room you need for two people.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Meechant LES! The room was lovely and a good size for NYC hotels. The amenities were very nice with in room refrigerator and a Nespresso machine. The bathroom was giant and had excellent water pressure. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The location was fantastic and convenient to so much. And the icing on the cake was the rooftop bar with views to die for!! Can’t wait to come stay there again!

Nice , well clean rooms and food

The rooms were very nice and very nice rooftop bar and the staff was super nice

Very comfortable and clean. Small (for 2 parents and 2 small kids) but comparable to rooms in other hotels in same quality range. Occasional noise from the street (otherwise very quiet) and very friendly and helpful staff. Would stay again.

When we arrived at our room at check in, the room had clearly not been cleaned or maintained: toilet was clogged with puke, pillow cases were stained, and the AC did not work. The hotel’s maintenance and housekeeping staff leave the premises at 5pm (check in at 4) and were not available to fix the room. The manager tried to switch us to different rooms, but no available rooms were fit: they all were smaller than what we booked, one had trash strewn about the room, one had a broken AC, one was on a much lower floor than we paid for. Then we were told that the staff would bring fans to our room to help control the temperature, and they never did despite our asking multiple times. They also told us that even if the AC worked, the windows in the room prevent it from getting comfortable cool. While the facilities are certainly photo-friendly when staged, the hotel clearly is not able or willing to provide basic customer service to ensure a clean stay. Won’t stay again.

The staff is very welcoming and beyond helpful! Place is amazing! Will def be a repeat stayer! Great sleeping mattress! Ample room in the room! I had the one with the balcony and it was amazing! Be sure to check out the restaurant and the rooftop bar with incredible views!

The only issue I have is there is no noise insulation. I was able to hear the people in the rooms next to me talk, open and close doors, etc. Other than that, it is a lovely property and the staff is welcoming.

Rooftop bar great for city views but it could do with longer opening hours! I loved the area, plenty of buzz but not crazy busy, good bars and cafes nearby Handy for subway!

Amazing location. Super easy digital check in. Clean, comfortable room. Close to subway and great places to eat. No complaints. Will be the first place we look next time we plan to stay over in the city.

Good TV. Friendly and welcoming staff. The pillows were very cheap and lumpy and so fat they were unusable. Please add two good pillows per room.... the other pillows can remain. The coffee maker was unworkable and cheap, and the cups did not even fit in it. Cleaner only came around 4pm, when we were back in the room getting ready to go out.

We had a great stay at the Merchant LES. The staff was fantastic. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Wonderful stay and would totally recommend. Fantastic staff, tremendous rooms, good bathroom, lovely rooftop bar and superb location. Absolute gem of a hotel and would totally return in future. Location near subway station and a lot of great bars and restaurants. Brilliant Lower East Side vibe.

Everything was great. Except even though the room was clean, there was a flie in the room when we arrived.Also there was hand soap but no body soap to shower.
