Hampton Inn Madison Square Garden Area Hotel

Was a close walk to MSG, Koreatown, and many other attractions. Good clean basic accommodations. Smallish rooms, but understandable considering the real estate situation in downtown NYC.

Check in was a disaster. Room wasn’t ready

I would recommend to anyone - safe, clean and well located (15 min walk to Times Sq)

Close to Union Train Station. Very dated. Small rooms. Not the nicest neighbourhood at night.

Poor breakfast

Got a two double-bed room, a bit tight but clean, well maintained and good bed. Very good water pressure for shower. Basic continental breakfast (3-hot items per day), with good dining area. Very convenient location for transit close to Penn station. A few convenient restaurants just beside it. A supermarket just across.

Good location if you are going to the Madison Square Garden and near Penn station.

The location was good. We booked this hotel months in advance as a family to celebrate my birthday, and I have genuinely never been so disappointed with a hotel stay. What was supposed to be a special family birthday trip turned into an incredibly stressful and unpleasant experience. From the moment we arrived, it became apparent that the property had been completely misrepresented by the online listing. The photographs did not accurately reflect what we found. We arrived to an old, tired and poorly maintained building surrounded by scaffolding. The reception area was tiny, dirty and unwelcoming, with dead plants around it. We were honestly shocked because it was nothing like the impression we had been given when making the booking. To make matters worse, despite booking months in advance as a family, our rooms were allocated on completely different floors. We were placed on the 12th floor while our children were placed on the 10th floor. We specifically raised this at reception and explained that we were travelling together as a family and that this arrangement meant our children were separated from us by two entire floors. The receptionist appeared completely nonchalant about our concerns. There seemed to be very little interest in the fact that our children had been separated from us, and, from our perspective, no meaningful effort was made to find an alternative arrangement or even explore what could be done. Considering this booking had been made months in advance, this was particularly disappointing. At the very least, we expected our concerns to be taken seriously and for some effort to be made to accommodate our family together. Unfortunately, the problems continued once we reached the rooms. The bedding was an unpleasant off-white colour, looked tired and was not properly ironed or presented. There were rusty pipes in the bathroom and dirty, rusty-looking pipework around the ice machine, raising further concerns about the general standard of maintenance and hygiene.

The bedroom needs some help. The bathtub didn’t drain and only half of the electric plugs worked

Breakfast absolutely horrendous I have pictures which show long queues and empty trays. The breakfast room was also in need of attention. I did complain about this but to no avail The hotel appears to be under renovation with scaffolding outside. Overall it was okay

Friendly staff clean room and close to everything. Love the body wash and lotion they supply! The only thing there was no eggs for breakfast but everything else was good. Love the fresh cookies as well! Whenever I come to the city I will stay there.

Very good

It is a typical old hotel with narrow rooms and hallways. The bed was comfortable. It was nice to have the coffee-maker in the room. The bathroom had been modernized which was great. Best thing about it is the location. It was easy to get to the subway or walk to MSG and Times Square.

Location/value for the money. Good customer service. Very small room. Booked the option "breakfast included", but there hardly any breakfast items available for out three days stay.

The house cleaners and patrons share elevators so elevator wait time can be incredibly long between people trying to work and people try to get to their room. The room itself was…. Fine. The AC was very loud. I’m an avid white noise user and livd on a busy downtown Baltimore street and the AC sound was disruptive. The fan in the bathroom was very loud. Everything is a little older which is fine, I wasn’t expecting pristine conditions by any means but it was kinda just too old for the price we pay. The shower was a complete joke, but at least they have accessibility in mind but good luck with any water pressure. The staff were pleasant and I’d never put down any hospitality workers. They work with what they have, and what they have is an older building owned by a company that won’t invest in the comfort of its patrons and to make their employee’s lives and jobs easier. Keep in mind: no mini fridges, no microwave in unit so don’t bother with (safe) leftovers.

Location is EXCELLENT!! Just steps from penn station, lots of places to eat around, rooms were clean, and good breakfast. Room is small but expected for NYC. Beds were comfortable.

Exceptional

Everything are excellent, except the breakfast are very poor. Their breakfast time is from 6:00 am to 10:00 am , but no more foods at 7:00 am. lot of guests are complaining.
