Good safe location

Our 2nd stay at the New Yorker & we love it. Close to so much, wonderful staff & great architecture of an iconic, historical hotel.

Needs some updating

Our family of 3 stayed for 5 nights in a Metro View Room, 2 Double Beds on the 35th Floor. The view was incredible overlooking the Empire State Building. We were warmly welcomed by the Reception who were quick, helpful and knowledgeable. We were in our room within ten minutes of arriving. The room was clean and spacious and although the beds were a little smaller than an average double they were very comfortable with plenty of pillows and there was plenty of space for the three of us. The rooms were cleaned daily and there were several sets of towels, soaps, lotions, shampoo and conditioner, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. The location of the hotel was perfect, with only a two minute walk to Penn Station giving access to all trains and subways right on our doorstep making the journey from JFK airport an absolute doddle (even with a 9 year old in tow!). So many attractions were an easy 10 to 20 minutes walking distance in any direction or the short hop onto the subway to travel further. The only thing I would say is that the hotel did look a little tired, carpets were worn and it could probably do with a fresh lick of paint but all in all we had a really enjoyable stay and would recommend this hotel to others looking for a functional hotel which is comfortable, clean and in a great location.

It wasn’t all bad, though. The front desk staff were consistently excellent, the porters were helpful and friendly, and the chambermaids were superb!

The room was very small and the bathroom was difficult to get ready in. There was no mini fridge or amenities in the room other than a blow dryer. One of the beds had a yellow stain on the sheets. The hallways are very dated and drab. The location and the friendly check in were the pluses.

My room was small, but very clean and the bathroom fixtures were good, including water pressure. I paid for a city view and mine was outstanding…straight down 34th to the Empire State Building! But the hotel was definitely run down, with the carpet seams taped and peeling wall paper. Sad to see such a formerly nice hotel sinking into disrepair.

Just a good hotel to be in for a vacation

Its an old iconic building and the room comfiratble albeit it tiny. Some of the fittings were tired as was the TV. I didn't mind because I was out most of the time. The TV, the internet speed wasn't great for business, and the whole enviornement was just a hit tired and shabby.

Great location near to station easy walk to Times Square No coffee machine or fridge in rooms had to pay to store suitcases after check out

Decent, good value for the...

If you want to stay in midtown, you can’t beat the location — a 2 minute walk from Penn Station. Times Square, theaters, Hudson Yards and the High Line are all walkable. The staff were all friendly and helpful, from the desk people to housekeeping. The room was clean and everything was working. I would happily stay there again.

The staff in the Tick Tock restaurant in the lobby were rude and food wasn't great. The actual staff of the hotel were great. Location was perfect.

The staff was also very friendly and helpful. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely stay here again!
