A clean, quiet, comfortable, and beautifully designed room and hotel! I loved my stay and only wish I could have stayed more nights. Prime location in the heart of Williamsburg/adjacent to Greenpoint, within walking distance of so many great restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, and bars — and close to transit too! The view from the rooftop bar was an added bonus, and I can't wait to stay at Penny again.

Extremely well-designed room, comfortable bed and linens, shower, bathroom...ventilation/ac perfect...intuitive and just super well-thought out accommodations. General vibe: organized, employees happy, good place. Only thing was not particularly well sound insulated door with adjoining room...group came home at midnight and had "spirited" gathering...but really didn't interfere with sleep...

I appreciated the colorful, joyful decor of the hotel. I especially loved the yoga mat and yoga blocks that were available in my room. My little room was spacious enough to roll out the mat and not have to pay for a class. I had a most enjoyable stay at The Penny.

I loved my room, the decor, comfortable beds, good size rooms and tucked away but close enough. The bar and restaurant upstairs also has an amazing menu.

Convenient and clean. It was so easy to get out and enjoy the city. The cleaning staff also goes above and beyond expectations with cleaning.

From check in to check out, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Hard to tell about cleanliness of floor ( that's important to me-maybe not to everyone). It was definitely broom swept but looked like it could use a good scrub- unless the scuff marks were part of the 'minimalist' aesthetic... The hotel itself was quiet; no noise from hall or rooms alongside. The outside courtyard and plantings there as well as the live plants throughout the hotel I really liked. Also the complimentary morning coffee with REAL halfnhalf! I would stay again.

Odor in room(s): - Upon checking into our room (222) in there was a strong smell of sweat and dirty socks. We opened the window in attempts to air it out and left for about an hour, but the smell was even worse when we got back. - We contacted the front desk and they sent housekeeping, but housekeeping sprayed room spray everywhere and into our faces. We both had some lung burning due to the chemical smell and left the room coughing. Despite this, the order still longed - Apon contacting the front desk again we were told we could switch rooms, but the woman who told/brought us the key was extremely rude. She had a very condescending tone, rolled her eyes at us and kept tapping her foot at the door. - The new room (228) still had an odor, which we had to go get cleaning supplies and clean the room ourselves. This is not something we were expecting to have to do booking a 4+ star hotel. Courtyard Access - During the evening we both went to the courtyard on the 1st floor to get some fresh air, but were rudely chased back in by a worker who didn’t seem to work for the hotel. - The same front desk lady who was rude before rolled her eyes at us and told us it closed at 10pm, but in our rooms and on the door there was no hours listed, rather it 24/7 access. Hotel would not work with us to help find a solution afterwords as well. They offered to refund the resort fee (FYI you pay $35 a day at the counter upon check in). Sad for a 4-4.5 star hotel.

Clean hotel. Helpful staff. My wife described the hotel as quirky but cute. The only bad thing is they charge you for the pastry in the morning. Coffee is complimentary. Each pastry was between 8-10 dollars

Great location. Room size. Deck and staff.

Location is great. Near everything. Lovely rooftop bar and restaurant with limited menu( my tacos were not hot enough temp wise) The hallway carpet is pretty bad. The floor in my room has seen better days. Also please note construction pics. Ask for a room not on the street if 7 am construction noise is not your idea of a good wake up. I actually just worked around it and got going earlier.
