Great service

The initial disappointment was the check-in process. I arrived early, which is common for me. At virtually every hotel I’ve stayed in, the front desk checks you in and notifies you when the next room is available. Here, they wouldn’t check me in and instead told me to return periodically to ask whether a room was ready. While I was sitting in the lobby waiting, I went back to the front desk three times before finally being told that a room had become available, even though the staff could clearly see me waiting for nearly two hours. In an era of automated queue management and text notifications, that’s difficult to understand. There was no notification, no queue, and no effort to accommodate guests who were already waiting. In decades of travel, this was the most poorly managed hotel check-in I’ve experienced. The lobby also had virtually no places to charge a phone while waiting, and the carpeting was visibly dirty and stained, making a poor first impression. The room itself was clean, but very small, with an equally tiny bathroom. There wasn’t a simple plastic laundry bag for dirty clothes, something I’ve found in virtually every other hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Overall, the hotel was adequate for a one-night stay, but I wouldn’t choose it for a longer visit. Nothing about my experience justified its exceptionally high rating.

I absolutely loved the bed pillows. The front desk provided me the name brand to order from home. Very comfortable stay!

Junior suite was absolutely divine. It has a beautiful balcony that you can sit on and see the panoramic skyline of New York. The bed was perfect, shower clean and good water pressure, and sitting area beautifully designed. Fabulous hotel experience! Nothing. It was perfect

Cons: my AC unit was very loud and the sheets were very starched/scratchy so it was difficult to get a good night of sleep.

I had a great stay at this hotel. It was clean and practical for my stay. Notably, the location was great, everything was within walking distance. I’ve always loved staying at the Pestana hotels, so I definitely will be returning back to this one.

Room was good and clean. Location was great. I had a couple of friends visit and explained they were not staying but I was asked in a slightly accusatory tone if my friends stayed in the room. I was unable to figure out how to work the complimentary coffee machine in the lobby.

Front desk lady on Thursday morning was so helpful. Don’t know her name but she was nice.
