It needs air fresheners to make the room smelling newer over all it was a good stay

I really liked this place. The staff were so nice, loved the granola bars, the complimentary water. They provided tooth brush, tooth paste, razor, shaving cream. The room was clean. Nicer than a lot of other hotels in New York.

The stuff wasn’t serious to me

The biggest issue is the smell. I understand it’s an old building, so it has that typical old, musty smell. The room has only one window, and the AC unit is installed in it, so very little natural light comes in. On top of that, the room smells like weed smoke coming through one of the vents.

The most important suggestion I have? Please put decals on the tub bottom, or provide an in-tub bathmat. It's really slippery, and there are no grab-bars/handles inside the tub/shower. If only for your own protection, i.e. getting sued for a slip-and-fall, I think it would be in everyone's best interests to take care of that. A woman named Miracle, who was on duty at check-in, was wonderful. She's a great employee! The bed was pretty nice, the sheets were clean and crisp, which was much appreciated. The provision of a toothbrush/paste, mouthwash, razor, shampoo, soap and lotion were great. Thank you. The doors slam loudly if left to shut on their own (as opposed to the exiting guest or housekeeper shutting them), and I was woken up NUMEROUS times, for several hours before my alarm went off. I don't know how you could possibly address that, but it was very annoying. I realize this is a budget hotel, and I tried to keep that in mind when commenting above. Thanks for reading this. Again, the potential for a slip-and-fall in the tub is HIGH, and that's the most important feedback I have.

Great location, comfortable lobby. It’s dated but clean linens.

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

Yes, the hotel rooms do need to be updated, however, the beds were very comfortable and we had a good night sleep

If you want a clean, perfectly functional and surprisingly "cheap" (considering it's New York, that is) hotel room, and you are planning to do most of your sightseeing from the Upper West Side, then you can't beat New York Night Hotel. It also has a history, formerly know as The Monterey Hotel.

The ac in my first room malfunctioned. The second room was fine.

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

It was fine. Allowing us to stow our luggage before we checked in and after we checked out was a huge help. Check in was easy, as was check out. Really no complaints. For the price in Upper West side it was great. Would stay there again.

This is a clean and peaceful option if you are traveling on a budget

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

I liked the location, it was close the subway and lots of restaurants and shops. Also around the corner was a pharmacy. The room was small and we were put in a room that was close to the stairs. The peep hole in the door was huge and let in a lot of light at night, we ended up plugging it the second night.

The ubication Regarding the cleanliness of the room area: the carpet smelled musty, the shower didn't drain well, and the ironing board was broken; I called to have another one brought up, but it never arrived.

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

It was fine. I’ve stayed here many times before. There seems to be an abundance of processing depending on who’s at the desk. The air conditioner in my first room was malfunctioning but all was well in new room

El cuarto se presta para solo dormir si vas de viaje de mochila o bag
