Renaissance New York Harlem Hotel

Staff, location, decor, and food were all great. The room itself was a bit shabby, and not super clean when I checked in (hairs found on linens and in bathroom area).

Location was great with transport links. The bed was comfortable and a good sized room. The windows don't block out noise - so was really hard to get a good nights sleep. But you couldn't share this as the bathroom was totally open.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Would have scored higher but one on the gentlemen on the desk was quite surly. We arrived in the morning and they had already made up our room which was great after flying through the night. The only issue is that Harlem is so far away. Wasn’t happy traveling on the subway late at night

Restaurant prices are ridiculous for what they serve you. Waitress was very rude and nasty had to speak to management which really did nothing about it.. menu needs to be updated in clarified when ordering the separate wings for $21 they should specify that they are wingetts not wings,

Everything was nice and clean stuff is very friendly hotel has a nice restaurant and bar with a common area The location of the hotel is a bit sketchy at night if you go during the day and return and don’t walk on the streets a lot it’s fine

Context: 13-night stay, with the paid "Central Park view" option. Two different rooms during the stay (Room 04/16th floor, then Room 04/26th floor following water damage). • Night security/front desk: very friendly, reassuring staff, consistent elegance and courtesy — my best memory of the hotel. • General reception: simple and efficient. • Gym: very decent, had everything needed. • Bar: very pleasant atmosphere. • Rooms (basic comfort): comfortable bed in both rooms. • Room 04/26th floor: much higher ceilings than on the 16th floor. • Front desk responsiveness: room change offered quickly after the ceiling leak, ultimately getting the actual Central Park view. Context: 13-night stay, with the paid "Central Park view" option. Two different rooms during the stay (Room 04/16th floor, then Room 04/26th floor following water damage). • Gap between advertised standing and actual experience: the hotel looks like more than 4 stars from the outside than it feels in the actual experience. • Central Park view not honored (16th floor room): paid for the option, but a large building blocked the view; front desk explained they sell an "orientation," not a "view" — which I consider false advertising given the option is explicitly named "Central Park view." • Leak in the shower ceiling, causing plaster to fall (3rd night). • Inadequate housekeeping: no vacuuming, no sink cleaning, toilet cleaning done randomly, toilet paper not restocked at times, doubts about whether towels were actually changed (found dry and folded). • Bar: $25/night credit, not great value against a $20 cocktail plus a $4 tip. • Gym water filter not always changed. • Very poor sound insulation (16th and 26th floors): hallway conversations audible, smell of drugs (twice in 14 nights), noise from the floor below, window shaking during weekend rooftop parties. • Bathroom design flaw (26th floor): shower door opens the wrong way, forcing you to twist awkwardly near the toilet. • Flickering/faulty lightbulb on rooftop party nights. • Noisy AC in both rooms: strong cold air gusts, and high humidity above 22°C (72°F).

Great location and LOVE the decor. Especially loved having Langston Hughes poetry above the bed. The bar is awesome. I will def stay here again.

The setup of the hotel over the Appolo theatre and having a fifth floor lobby was unique, the food at the Victoria restaurant was amazing, the staff were helpful and polite. The room space and setup were just right, the bathroom/ wardrobe combination was different. I loved the hotel! There was no fridge in the room, house keeping can be improved in terms of overall cleaning of the room and changing linens, limited capacity of the restaurant
