Baymont by Wyndham Newark at University of Delaware

Room was adequate and staff helpful. However, I was disturbed by fighting in the next room which ultimately ended with a visit from the police.

The only thing i liked about this hotel was its location It’s so old and dirty, the hallway smells so bad.

Exceptional

While the staff was awesome the rooms need help. There is paint peeling, locks not working properly and the ice machine on the first floor doesn’t work. However it’s somewhere cheap to sleep and if those small things don’t bother you then it’s perfect. Staff are always friendly and willing to help if you need it.

Great place to stay

We left two hours into our stay- we couldn't sleep due to the heavy smell of cleaning products in the room and when we asked to switch rooms, the second room reeked of Marijuana smoke.

The human feces in the hall, poor odors in the room and lipstick on the walls make this a hotel I would never stay at again.

I requested an extra bed online that they said they would have but when I went to the hotel, they said they had none left.

We had some issues with card access towards the end of our stay.

Front desk ladies were very kind and friendly. They were definitely the bright spot of an otherwise terrible visit. Friendly and welcoming. I have never felt so unsafe in a hotel in my life. We booked 2 nights for early move-in for our daughter at UD, and our usual hotel, the Courtyard by Marriott, was unavailable when I booked the Baymont. I looked at its location across from the stadium, and thought, "How bad could it be, that close to campus...". When we checked in, there was a woman with three black trash bags, in the lobby, pacing back and forth and talking to herslf, with VERY minimal clothing on. There were large groups of people in the parking lot next to the hotel just milling about. That should have been our first two red flags. After checking in, we left for hours to move in all of her stuff into the dorm, returning around 11:00pm. The woman with the bags was now out in the parking lot. We made our way to our basic, "just ok" room. By time my husband and daughter fell asleep, I was hearing rumblings on our floor outside of our door. By 2 am, there was a strong weed smell, partying, and knocking on doors (not ours, but next to us). By 4 am, the partying had turned into yelling and fighting. By 5 am, the poepe next door to us were screaming, banging things, pounding on the door to their room, and other fighting was occuring in the hall. In the parking lot, two women were screaming at each other for hours below our room, from around 3:30 to 5:30am. By 7am, I woke my husband up and told him there was no way we were staying there a second night, like we had booked (he and my daughter were EXHAUSTED from moving all of her stuff in, and I didn't have the heart to wake them during the "festivities" over night). We looked again and the Courtyard had a room that night (THANK GOD). We couldn't get out of there fast enough - and just chalked the $225 for the second night, up to a loss, for our sanity and safety.
