We can't say enough about this amazing property, renovated in 2024. It was quaint and cute in a modern way with a lovely nod to its history. This hotel made us want to hang out in the adorable lobby and read our books--or sit on the patio or verandah and sip coffee (or wine) while reading as the waves roll in below. Sunset? Phenomenal. Alex was amazing at the desk, making cappuccinos and lattes for guests. The literary theme and the tribute to Sylvia Beach were perfection. Highly recommend!

Overall, this is a lovely, well maintained hotel on the cliff overlooking the Pacific. It has the feel of a Bed & Breakfast, with quaint spaces, gift shop and literary genre-themed rooms. The location is convenient to Nye Beach, and the free espresso drinks are great. I do want to say that my room, while very clean and cute with a Sherlock Holmes theme, was not particularly comfortable or private. The garden patio was literally adjacent to the main walkway and outside entry to the lobby. Lots of noise and people hanging around outside was very much an invasion of privacy. I was disappointed in the room amenities and location on the property, given the price. Opt for one of the higher floors or an ocean view.

Wonderful stay right on the beach.

Very small room and very HOT room with no a/c

Second time staying. Great location! Cute interior design. Love coffee in the lobby and watching the waves. Highly recommend!

Room was clean. Very loud hallway doors going from the lobby to the rooms. You could hear it slam constantly. It woke me up both mornings. I would not stay there again for that reason.
-
Very clean and updated room. This is a historical building so the rooms are smaller, no AC, no TV, but the staff supplied a fan when requested. It was nice to unplug and enjoy the location.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place. And everything about it. So charming. Will return.

The small room size was disappointing. The bathroom sink was next to the bed outside the bathroom. More outlets are needed for cell charging. No elevator to serve upper floors. On site breakfast was good. Location was well centered. Parking was quite tight. Staff was very accommodating.

Charm and comfort! Loved the espresso bar.

Very classy and stylish Parking was limited to a few areas.

Very nice boutique hotel... Just a little too expensive for what it is.

Once Miranda checked us in, the Hotel Sylvia welcomed us. This is a delightful spot. As a literary hotel with books everywhere as well as chairs to cozy up in with your book. They also have wine, beer, and cider to enjoy while reading. The hotel rooms all have a theme like Jane Austen and Ernest Hemingway, ours was Romance with an ocean view. The whole hotel has been renovated and it’s beautiful. My one critique is that we paid for an ocean view but the windows were so dirty with sea spray that we couldn’t see the ocean! I get it, but is something to address. We had a beautiful breakfast at Cafe Sylvia. Our waitress was delightful as she flitted around the room with confidence making sure everyone had coffee and jam! The best moment came from sitting on the terrace on the couch watching the sunset with a glass of cider with a blanket and a fire going! I couldn’t recommend the Hotel Sylvia more for a lovely stay in Newport! 📚

Amazing place to stay if you are looking for a quiet location to get away. We had an amazing time! The staff was amazing, Alex was the best! Morning lattes for free and beach views that go on forever. When it was super hot in the Midwest, it was nice and cool here. Highly recommend!

Upgraded my room automatically. Very clean. Great location.

We had a King Garden room and we brought along our Golden Retriever. The pet amenities were excellent. They provide a dog bed, and food and water bowls. And treats of course! We enjoyed having the patio since the room was a bit tight with 2 adults and our Golden, but overall - clean and comfortable stay. The breakfast was also delicious and reasonably priced. Best biscuit I’ve ever had - flakey and delicious. Overall a great stay! Located nice and close to the beach.

I wish the gas fireplace on the patio was working.

No A/C or TV but it was a place to unplug and reset
