Residence Inn by Marriott Norfolk Airport

The hotel was close to everything including Walmart and Target. The oceanfront is approximately 20 minutes away. Parking is 10.00 a night. Breakfast is plentiful in the morning from 6am-10am. All the staff is nice. Housekeeping comes every 3 days.

Overall the staff was very friendly.. The room we stayed in, the bathroom could have been clean a little better. House cleaning gave us more clean towels but not more clean washcloths.. After a long day at the beach, we had to go back down stairs to ask for bed fitting for the pull out bed.. The battery went dead in the AC thermostat.. so we had to keep going down stairs to check on the status for that..

And only sliced bread for Vegan option served for breakfast. Coffee is ok. Pros- Service was great, polite and accommodating, even with suggestions thanks Alicia! Exercise equipment was well kept, room service was great, thanks Ebony! I'm waiting on a response from Manager Courtney who offered points as compensation for the inconvenience and unfulfilled assurance. Cooking in was a great option with 4 people, but slow electric burners were hard to access, low cabinet and small stovetop. Nicely stocked kitchen, we used our own pots etc. as vegans should. We would consider staying again. They really try to accommodate and are very nice. They did charge $130 without my knowledge for incidentals.

Clean and comfortable

Staff was very helpful and friendly. However my room smelled awful and I had to spray perfume to mask the odor. It smelled like mildew. The ceiling in the bathroom had a huge water stain. The pool was a bit dirty due to a party that used it before we arrived. Having someone skim the pool after such a large party would be helpful. The wall paper was coming off the wall in the hallways and the carpet in the elevator was coming up. I expect better quality from a Marriott property especially being so close to an airport and the price you pay.

The staff was the most unprofessional I’ve ever experienced. Residence Inn cancelled my reservation the day before my trip. They said I was booked at another hotel in Chesapeake (20 minutes away), however, when I arrived at that hotel, I was told Residence Inn staff canceled the reservation without contacting me and telling me they cancelled. I arrive after midnight so I had to go back to the airport and sleep outside the airport because all other hotels were booked. Residence Inn general manager called me the next day to say Expedia told them they’d handle my reservation, however, Expedia said the hotel cancelled (and my communication the entire time after booking was with Residence Inn). Anyone looking for a place to stay, please avoid this location at all costs. Their staff has zero concern for patrons and it’s truly hard to believe they are able to carry the Marriott brand. The staff, including management, should receive training on taking care of customers.

Really poorly maintained property.

Room was clean and fairly comfortable. I had family that also booked this hotel as we were going into Norfolk for the same event, but the hotel canceled their reservation the same day as the arrival. When I tried to call to confirm our room the phone lines where not working which caused a lot of stress. After about 3 hours I was able to get through and confirm our reservation was still good and we had a room. When we arrived the front desk tried to tell us we had only paid for 1 night and had a balance, but we has paid in full. Everything worked out eventually, but it was a much more stressful start to our trip than anticipated.

I must say that tge Residence Inn By Marriott Norfolk is exceptional. Our room was immaculate, the Front Desk Agent was courteous, was kind, and helpful. Explanation of services and amenities were thorough. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful the dining area was well maintained, comfortable and clean. The parking area was clean and adequate for the size of the hotel. This hotel is near the airport and close to shopping and restaurants . I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Norfolk area.

I knew that I wouldn’t be at the hotel in time for check-in. I called the hotel two weeks prior to inform them of this. I was told that this would not be a problem and that it would be notated in the account. About a week after that, I informed them that the card on file was lost and asked how I would be able to put another card on file. No one responded to my inquiry. On the day of my arrival, May 8, 2026, I began driving to Norfolk, Virginia from Southampton, Long Island. Over 8 hours. I arrived on the property to no one in the lobby. There wasn’t a bell or any kind of way to call for a receptionist. After 15 minutes, a woman who worked the front desk emerged with a small man looking as though they’d been enjoying the night pretty thoroughly. She looked disheveled and unkempt. When she saw that my daughters and I were standing there she immediately looked annoyed. She asked me if I was checking in with a very rude demeanor. I answered yes. She then asked me what my last name was. She asked those two questions while still making her way around the counter. I told her my last name. She answered “What?” with attitude along with a neck roll and rolling her eyes. I yelled my last name back. Her little man of a boyfriend or fling chuckled behind me. She went on to say that my reservation was cancelled and my room given away. She did not see any notes that I would arrive late and no message about my card. I will never book a stay at the Residence Norfolk Airport, again.
