Holiday Inn Express & Suites Olathe South by IHG

Our room was comfortable and had a nice view out to the trees. It was helpful that there was a refrigerator and microwave in the room. Also was close to groceries and gas. Was a fine landing spot for a couple of nights.

I didn’t like the old style tub and shower. The tub is so old it’s rusty.

Suggestion for guests: before unpacking your suitcase, check that your room’s toilet bowl is clean and the tank is not running, that the bathroom sink water pressure is good and not a trickle, and that the air conditioning control is in working order. I had to switch rooms twice due issues I’ve rarely seen at any hotel. I finally had to accept some of these issues due to limited room availability. To their credit, they were agreeable to moving me. But that took time.

I've stayed at many Holiday Inn Express hotels. This one was noticeably less cared for than others. I only found one staff member who was helpful. The only other one I encountered had ear buds in while I was trying to ask a question and was visibly annoyed while I was interacting with him. Certainly not a warm and inviting atmosphere. Rooms and lobby lacked overall maintenance and upkeep (chipped paint, marks on walls, things falling under repair). Definitely did not get good vibes from this hotel.

It smelled very musty, and the pool was dirty.

I will say the coffee was excellent!

Little run down. I can hear every step taken outside of our room. Bed was comfortable though.

Unfortunately, our room didn't smell clean. It smelled like someone had smoked in it. The elevator had an awful odor too. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else.

The staff were great and the morning meal was better than most in this class of hotel. The room was comfy and clean though the hotel overall needs a facelift. The building itself sits right behind a big retail store and plenty restaurants that you can visit without getting back in the car. I would stay here again.

I chose this based on the excellent rating. While this hotel was clean, our room was Okay, but needs some better updating. We found the room we booked was clean but smelled of mildew. The bathroom had sloppily applied grout around the tub and under the and had tiles that were stained and cracked. Beds were clean and pillows plentiful! Breakfast was just okay. Flavorless pancakes, hard biscuits, eggs that were overcooked and bad coffee. I honestly don’t know how this got rated so high. It was inexpensive compared to other hotels but certainly not staying here again.

Comfy, great coffee and breakfast. The facility upkeep seemed a bit behind.
