Hotel San Carlos - Downtown Convention Center

I love the art deco

Needs some slight upgrades. Nice place though.

Disappointing

The hotel itself is nice and quaint and vintage. The rooms are the same. But furniture is a bit worn down. Bed was really comfortable.

The location is terrible, no onsite parking you have to park around the block in a garage and the entire block smells like urine from the large amounts of homeless people hanging around this hotel. As I was walking back from the parking garage this homeless person was peeing on the wall and another reached out and grabbed my leg begging for change. The area is not safe. The front desk service is very poor and they were very rude. short and snappy. The restaurant attached was closed during an open period as the hours posted. The building Air conditioner is very poor. Not cold Just cool. The pillows and bed are hard with the exception of 1 out of the three pillows. The room had musty smell and this has to be the world's smallest bathroom ever in a hotel room. Cruise ships have larger bathrooms. literally knees touching the wall while on the toilet. The shower is very small and the water goes from hot to cold randomly. The bath towels were not at all soft. Lots of clinking sounds in the walls that will keep a person up. The elevator is not safe. lots of clunking sounds and the door didn't seem to open or close all the way. The pool has been under construction for over a year. This is an old historic hotel and it shows very well. This hotel has a reputation for being haunted which is true because staying here was a nightmare. I recommend staying anywhere else but The San Carlos. I stayed here because it was inexpensive and close to my Business meeting location.

Clean and cool property but the bed wasted comfortable and there are lots of mental homeless outside and the smell of piss is strong.

Lovely chat with the staff upfront. They were full of answers if asked. Even told me about the ghost that resides there- i need to go back some time. Room was clean as heck for a older hotel. Parking was a bit difficult as it was across the street. Close to some nice food tho.

Everything was adequate

Pretty decent stay. We only used this room literally to sleep.. our trip was mainly being outdoors

I don't travel a lot so I didn't know what to expect but all the staff were so friendly and helpful, the room was big and spacious which I appreciated a lot plus the bed was really comfortable. I'll definitely be back to this hotel a when I come back to pheonix.

Loved how small and comfortable the room was. While on the 3rd floor my husband and I seen suits Marilyn Monroe had stayed in which was awesome. You couldn't control the ac lol

Clean but old but thats what gives it its charm but if your looking for new this is not your place. Parking you have to find a close by garage its about 30 dollars a day so add that to your stay. Area is awesome night life, food and things to do every coner. AC is controlled by I dont know but definitely not you no thermostat in the rooms it was comfortable but go warm a few times ceiling fan definitely helped. Water pressure in the shower was probably the worse I ever had it just fell out had to stand right under it for the water to hit you. Staff was great very kind and willing to help hotel definitely has its charm just not sure if its total worth it I might stay here again if I needed to.

Stayed here before and would stay again. Room and bathroom a little small but was perfect for me.

I forgot my phone charger in the room, but I noticed and called a few hours late, but it was not found ‍♂️

It was a great place to stay

This place is one of a kind. Ive never stayed anywhere even remotely like it. It has atmosphere, it has a vibe, it has a one of a kind feel to it unlike anything you can find anywhere else. It had character and was very very cool. We really would have liked to enjoy the pool on the roof but it was being renovated. I wish we had known prior to arriving so we didnt get our grandson excited to "swim on the roof". However this was of minor importance in the big picture. Great staff, awesome stay.
