Econo Lodge Black Hills

This hotel was so bad it should be condemned. Honestly, the worst hotel I’ve ever had!!! The slide had rust and when I went down, it felt like fiberglass went into my bottom. The pool was freezing with broken ceramic tiles around it. The hot tub is filled in with concrete. There’s a plywood door over an exterior door. There was a sign saying don’t use the stairs because they’re unsafe. Use the elevator for convenience.Everything was broken. They check us into a dirty room. The door locks were broke. The bathroom ceiling was peeling from moisture. The blackout curtains were broken! They did not clean the room any of the days and we were there for four days.

The room was not clean. The pool was not clean. Hotel was under construction. They charged a $100 hold. It was not credited back after checkout. I called to question it and they claimed it had been credited when it had not been. I had to then contact my credit card company to dispute the charge. Very dissatisfied with everything about my experience with this hotel.

The picture showed a hot tub. When we arrived it was filled in with cement. The pool was super cold and the door was busted out and blocked with wood. The hotel was dirty in the hallway. When arrived in the room it wasn’t good. It seemed clean but the comforter was stained, the sing in the room part countertop was damaged, didn’t dare put any weight on it. The shower head sprayed out the top and the bathroom sink leg was coming out

Dark and smell

The deposit situation is inconvenient but understandable! The pool was fine, it was cold. They do not have a hot tub any longer, it’s cemented up so the photos there are wrong. The room was clean, but a couple of people in our group woke up with bug bites, however, we did not check before going to bed because we thought the place seemed clean so that was an error on our part. I’d recommend checking the beds thoroughly if you’re going to stay here, and anticipate having to pay a $100 deposit at check in on top of what you’ve paid for the room.

Breakfast, nice people Doing construction on site

*weird bad smell, *couldn’t turn A/C on, *couldn’t turn TV off - got different room Second room - *didn’t get the view I requested, but no smell. *TV kept losing the signal (I was trying to watch World Cup action and missed a goal because of the outage), and remote was EXCEPTIONALLY finicky. *Fridge was missing the bars to hold items in the door, so had trouble chilling drinks. *Microwave would only let you enter one digit, and the turntable didn’t turn. *Window A/C unit was very loud *Toilet was incredibly short - think kid-size *Second floor ice machine was out of order and there was no ice machine on the third floor. *Pool was unavailable due to construction, so no swimming. Given my stay, I would not return to this property.

The pool is broken they are in the middle of repairs

This place is a scam! The whole property is under construction, they put guests on the second floor but all the dust and noises are still effecting all the rooms. There were holes in the walls of the room, the toilet tank was all sorts of broken and they tried to cover it up with toilet paper. The staff was anything but helpful! He laughed in our face and refused to refund our money. This is not a safe place to stay, especially with children! Beware and book somewhere else!! We ended up booking somewhere else because this place is a joke.

Pool is being renovated and unavailable on our stay

Totally disgusting property. We left in the morning and didn’t stay the second night. Poor service and not having it on their web page they are under construction since January and it’s now June should be considered false advertising, didn’t even eat because things in the hallway and room were so filthy we didn’t want to eat anything there. A lot of workers must stay there and were loud and knocking on doors at 3:00 in the morning. Do NOT stay here.

The area near food places Couldn't swim for repairs

I thought the staff was friendly and the location off the interstate was convenient. Where to start..there is construction happening in the pool area. I stayed with my son, he thought the elevator smelled like urine. In the room there was a stale odor. In the bathroom, there appeared to be mold. Had to latch the door because you could push the room door open. Then finally my son sent me pictures of a random toilet plunger in the hallway and what looked like a pile of dead bugs and possibility roden feces. So I really would not recommend staying here.

Breakfast was another issue. The power outlets weren’t working, so anything hot wasn’t an option. But the staff member was trying his best to I will say the front desk staff gentlemen was very friendly and tried to be accommodating. Unfortunately the issues were beyond what he had control over. I’m all for giving a place a chance when I just need a place to sleep, but these issues were just unacceptable. I’m glad I didn’t have my family with me. I probably would have asked for a refund and changed motels.
