Nice location. Easy parking. Beautiful clean tastefuly decorated room. High quality breakfast. Very nice staff at front desk. It was very quiet. Loved it! Only one night, wish we had a longer stay. Definitely recommend.

Nice hotel close to black hills and lots of restaurants in Rapid City with good rates and nice atmosphere.

Place smelt bad and the room was gross. Slept on top of the covers because there was hair all over the sheets and stains. Arrived late and paid the price to sleep for 6 hrs. RUN!!

My father described the bedding as if the box spring was on top. “Sometimes you end up needing to just sleep on the floor”

The room was dated and the comforter was not useful so it was pretty much sheets to sleep on. The room was cold AC worked well. Staff was somewhat rude or uncaring. Continental breakfast was toasts, Bagels and cereal. Stay was cheap though and room was clean.

Pros: Convient location to downtown area. Close to East/Weat I-90 corridor to Badlands, Sturgis, Deadwood. Helpful Front desk staff. Ample Free Parking. Walking distance to Walmart and Family style Restaurant (Millstone Family Restaurant ~ Very GOOD!) Cons: Continental Breakfast Pathetic, minimal offered (Frozen Jimmy Dean Breakfast Biscuits, Dry Cereal, Coffee. Housekeeping staff is below minimal standards our room was completely ignored for two of our four days stay. Towels had a stale smell as if they were stored in a musty closet for a lengthy time. A Do Not Return for future visits to the area.

Haven’t stayed there in about 14 years so I thought I’d give it a whirl. First of all, they don’t mention the $200 incidental fee that they put on you once you check in so please have a credit card on hand. Ok that’s my rant, other than that it was quiet, felt safe, and the bed was lower than usual but I slept ok. It’s not so modernized but again it was quiet, safe, and the breakfast was like it was 14 yrs ago - cereal, coffee, bagels, and a jimmy dean sandwich, enough!

Nice 2 Star hotel. Nothing to rave about, nor complain about. I was happy with my stay. Just wish the breakfast had some more protein, like eggs or sausages. No juices or fruits either. That was disappointing.

Pet room kinda stunk, otherwise it was clean

The room was not as clean as it should have been.

Several of the exterior doors were locked with no key card access from outside, which was frustrating. I also wouldn’t consider the breakfast a continental breakfast. The options were basically cereal and an empty bag of bagels, along with one pretty unappealing tub of cream cheese that appeared to have been sitting out multiple mornings in a row. The bathroom was clearly original, which honestly doesn’t bother me, but some basic updates like replacing the shower head would go a long way. I also wouldn’t come expecting a comfortable bed or even semi-soft sheets. Especially for the price, I unfortunately can’t recommend it. I really wanted to like and support an independent hotel, but next time I’d spend my money somewhere else.

Good hotel for the price.

The property does not have an elevator, which was particularly inconvenient because I was traveling with a heavy item and they didn’t have anyone to assist me in getting it on the second floor. The bathroom also had one burned-out light bulb, and the two different types of lighting above the sink were noticeably mismatched...one very bright/cool and the other very warm. The room’s air-conditioning unit is also positioned directly beside the bed, making it somewhat noisy and blowing directly on the person sleeping there. The biggest issue for me, however, was the inconsistency in customer service between shifts. First morning-shift clerk: Curt and unfriendly. She was not overtly rude, but her interactions felt dismissive and lacked warmth or interest. Second, afternoon-shift clerk: Completely different experience. Pam was friendly, helpful, attentive, and willing to go out of her way to assist. She was a genuinely delightful person to interact with and provided the kind of customer service that makes a guest feel welcome. Middle aged bearded overnight clerk: Unfortunately, my interactions with him were rude and unpleasant. Overall, I think the property itself has a lot going for it...the spacious rooms and useful amenities, but the inconsistency in front-desk service significantly affected my experience. One clerk was exceptional, while the interactions with the other two left me disappointed.

As a loyal member of a certain hotel chain, I have started looking for cheaper hotels because I believe all chain hotel prices have gotten out of control. My wife discovered this hotel while vacationing in Rapid City, SD. Foothills Hotel offered all the amenities of the big chain hotels at about half the price. Hotel very clean and worth the money.

The room was clean, the staff was awesome, a/c worked great, and the parking was very good. It was very quiet considering busy all around. Had a small issue with the tv but it was quickly taken care of. It was right in the heart of where we wanted to be when we wanted to be there. Will definitely stay there again...

The room was clean and we would stay there again. However, the mattress needs to be replaced. Breakfast consisted of several choices of cold cereal, juices and a Jimmy Dean's microwave croissant sandwich. It was good enough to get us going. The property is older but okay. The front desk staff was very helpful and the person working breakfast was consistently cleaning the area and replenishing juices and milks as needed.
