The Jesse Hotel & Bar

We love staying at The Jesse when we're on a long road trip. The bar and restaurant is a great amenity and the rooms are spacious - so nice when traveling with a dog and toddler. The only thing different on this stay vs other stays was that the room didn't feel as clean - the rug could use replacing and the corners were quite dusty. Otherwise, it was a good stay, we'll be back.

While this "boutique" hotel DOES offer a wonderful stay, here's the lowdown on the noise. We stayed Thursday and Friday and returned home today, 9/26. My husband and I have been discussing this oddity. No problems Thursday night. On Friday night, there was a party on the patio. The music stopped at 11p. No problem. That's reasonable. We also just happened to stay the weekend of the annual motorcycle festival so there were motorcycles up and down the street very late and also at the biker bar that is caddy corner to the hotel. The motorcycle noise eventually died down. Again, not really an issue. The issue was the crazy LOUD EDM music still going on at 4a!! For a boutique hotel, this is not how you treat guests that you want to return. The earplugs/noise canceller does nothing. We decided to leave at 5a this morning. Upon opening our door (2nd floor Laughlin), we realized the noise was coming from downstairs, not the biker bar and not anyone with a boom box at the bus station. The noise was in the lobby room right where you come in from the patio. It was not the bar/restaurant room. The door was locked and no one answered our knocking. We believe they play loud EDM music to keep the bums away as they do lurk around the building. The area is growing but still CREEPY and no staff overnight. It's NOT "music from the area" as they try to say. Hopefully, they can better address safety concerns.

Quick note. The hotel is on a fairly busy street and it's not the most soundproofed. The hotel provides earplugs and a white noise machine, but we did not find those necessary for the occasional traffic noise. They were not helpful on the Friday night when the music in the adjacent patio was cranked up. Thankfully, the event ended by 11:00. If you are someone who needs deep silence and goes to bed early, check ahead on events there. If you crash later at night or can sleep through anything, this is a great place to stay!

I’ve been to your property before and I do like it. I did have a rude waitress on Sunday evening, who ignored me more than once as I tried to get her attention while she went to other tables. It was really odd. Thankfully your bartender Audrey came over to serve me, she was wonderful. She told me she had just started working there, I hope you keep her!

Beautifully restored building. Room was very nice. Climbing stairs is required, so that could be an issue for some. We would stay again.

The Jesse is quaint luxury. From the outdoor space to the bright and chic feel of the interior, everything was thoughtfully designed to inspire relaxation and comfort. The staff is excellent and extremely helpful. Food was delicious as were the craft cocktails. Try the Aegean Garden if you like gin. It’s hard to avoid in any city, but there’s a large number of homeless in the area.

Truly unique and satisfying. Totally different than all other Reno properties with garish lighting and ubiquitous slot machines. Note: no elevator and extremely tall ceilings in this 100 year old property so 3rd floor is like walking up 4 flights of stairs so must be ready for that if carrying large luggage.

It's lively, walkable to casinos and restaurants, and the space itself is beautiful. It's like staying in a hip/posh studio apartment close to everything. Had a great time, would definitely return!

Fun spot! Good food

This stay was a quick one-stop overnight on a biz/personal trip. The Jesse is a very small, boutique-style hotel in a restored building. Beautiful restoration with great attention to preserving the vintage character with exposed brick walls, worn flooring and upgrades capable with the style. 1 block from the casinos and across from the bus station sounds scary, but it was quiet, convenient and safe. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat and can't recommend it enough. A little gem in downtown Reno.

The kiosk said that my room was not ready because it wasn't clean, and when I asked the restaurant employee about this, she didn't understand why I would think that even though I said that it's what the kiosk said. So the check-in system that replaces the receptionist doesn't even give you accurate information. In my room, there was a big window that opens right into the shower, and the blinds were broken, so I couldn't close them. I tried to call to ask for help with this and they were closed. I ran downstairs and was able to catch somebody as they were closing up, but typically they aren't available past 8 pm. You can text the customer service number and hope the owner answers, but there's no one on site. There's nothing in the room explaining how to get into the Wi-Fi so I called to get the information but I couldn't get through to anyone. I texted which took a while longer to get a response, definitely not instantaneous. I also had an issue with the AC and it took about 45 minutes to get that resolved.
