Del Mar Motel

It's hard to rate this place too poorly considering it's one of the cheapest hotel rooms you can get in LA. I didnt experience any serious, horrifying concerns during my stay. The place had a seemingly clean bed and hot water. I sensed no danger during my stay. That said, it was also one of the poorest maintained motels I've ever stayed in. Im talking bare minimum, cheapest route, poorly executed repairs - and only of things that absolutely need it. The sink was missing a handle. There was daylight around three corners of the door to the outside, which probably explains the tiny roaches. Chairs were absolutely filthy and the fabric ruined. The floors were a little sticky and had some concerning red stains. They demand an unheard of cash deposit on check in - and they *conveniently* have their own high fee ATM right there. Not a nightmare scenario, but definitely not a "cozy, aesthetic" stay.

The shower wasn’t clean. There was actual hair on the wall of the shower. When I arrived they have a huge ant infestation multiple times. The toilet bowl was full of ants that had drowned. The man who runs the place is rude and inconsiderate. I stayed there once before and my day was OK. This last day was terrible! Do not recommend this location under any circumstances even if you need to save money.

The bad: The shower did not work, the staff was preoccupied and acted as if me checking-in was a bother, the phone to call reception was broken. I might stay again but only because of it's location, which is very nice (in South San Gabriel), and not because of the amenities.

house keepers were great owners and everything else not so much

Free parking. The area felt safe. Staff was friendly. You need 20 dollars cash for a deposit. The bed was horrible. Not comfortable to sleep in. Everything was ok. They can do better in maintaining the facilities.

There were bugs everywhere, I can forward photos if desired. In fact, I felt bad for the housekeeper who had to kill bugs when she came to service the room on Saturday morning. I couldn’t check out fast enough. I will explain why I didn’t request a different room later.

They only offered 2 large towels only. There was no table, chair to do my paperwork. The front desk staffs were not friendly. One of light was inoperative because the wall plug was inoperative.

Everything is good safety and clean all rooms and the whole staff is very friendly 👌
