ITH Mission Beach Backpacker Hostel

ITH Mission Beach is by far the best hostel I have ever been to. I had already been there last summer, and because I loved it so much, I decided to come back this summer and stayed even longer. Here are my impressions as someone who has spent more than four weeks in total there (both stays together): The hostel feels like a small community. Every evening, there is a free activity like karaoke, yoga, movie nights or game nights that is organized by the volunteers working at the hostel, and all guests are welcome to join if they want to. Every week, there is also Taco Tuesday and a BBQ night as the activity, where guests are provided with free food and everyone sits together and has a great time. Often, there were even free boat tours and speedboat tours for the guests. There is also a Whatsapp group in which the staff shares all the important news and guests can connect to make plans or ask if anyone would like to join in on something, which was used very frequently. In the mornings, there is a free pancake and egg station, where guests can help themselves. Reuben, the manager, is doing an amazing job with this hostel, and you can tell that he loves his work and that it’s not only a job for him! I was there as a female solo traveler, so safety was of great importance to me, and I have always felt very safe. The hostel is located right across from Belmont Park, a retro amusement park for kids, and just a few steps from the ocean. During the day, it is a very busy area, but at night, there are not many people out anymore. The front door of the hostel is secured with a code that is changed every few days, and there is also a surveillance camera system. Each room is again secured with a room code that only the people sleeping in the room at the time have. There is one female room with six beds and a few mixed rooms with 8 beds and, I believe, two or three private rooms.

We had a great stay there! The whole staff was amazing—super welcoming and always happy to help. Reuben, the manager, was also super friendly and always made sure everyone had everything they needed. The hostel has such a great vibe! The evening activities were a lot of fun and made it really easy to meet other travellers. Breakfast was great too, with fresh eggs and pancakes every morning and really good coffee and jam! Overall, they pay attention to all the little details and genuinely care about making your stay as comfortable as possible. We'd definitely stay there again!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had an amazing stay at this hostel in Mission Beach. The location is absolutely top, just steps from the beach and everything you need nearby. What really made the experience special was the staff, super friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. Every day they organized fun events and activities, which made it really easy to meet people and feel part of the vibe. A personal highlight was the piano in the common area, it quickly became part of our daily routine and added such a unique, relaxed atmosphere. Overall, a great place if you’re looking for good energy, a social vibe, and an unbeatable beach location.

Stayed at a handful of hostels and this one's in a class of its own. Bunk beds are comfortable and private, with plenty of lockable storage underneath. The space is clean, warm, and genuinely well put together. Staff are friendly and they set the tone for the place. Taco Tuesday is not to be missed. Easy in and out, free parking just a block away. And the location speaks for itself.
