Room was not ready when we checked in. The pictures are not the same as the hotel. There were no beach cabanas. The pool water was very dirty and it smelled bad.

The convenience and hospitality feuding our stay was great

Underwhelming for price. Checked in, only to be given a room that was already occupied. Then changed to a room that smelled like it had not been opened/aired out in quite a while. Changed rooms one last time and overall was fine until the last day when my son found a huge cockroach by his luggage. Needless to say, this was a one and done for us at this hotel.

The resort has beautiful grounds and it’s in a great location. The rooms are very dated though. For the nightly rate, I would expect something nicer. The chairs on the beach are a nice amenity but they are very old and torn.

Let me start by saying I know people seem to love this resort, my complaint is very specific to room 196. The lobby, restaurants, grounds, etc. were beautiful. Our room was supposed to be a 2 queen resort view but we ended up in a larger family room, the extra space was nice. However the room (196) was so outdated which I believe some areas have been updated. It gave motel vibes, old, gross carpet, dark, dated. The 2 beds are in a separate room which would be nice but there was not an air vent in the room, they supplied a fan and it was hot at night. The "cleaning" smell wore off and it smelled like wet, damp, dog. I woke up after our first night and thought it was insane we were spending $2,000 for 3 nights when our room felt like Motel 6. I called the front office and they generously waved the charge for leaving early. I do appreciate that. I don't think they could argue. The kids loved the pool, the airstream/coffee stand was great, really good breakfast food but the room was gross. I am sure there are other units that are better but on top of the room, the patio opened up to a back yard with a gate that had access to the beach. Sounds great but right outside the gate were public bathrooms and the public beach. Lots of tents, campers, people sleeping on the beach, loud music, not exactly the vibe you want with kids. I will say the private beach was nice but that is not where our room was. We ended up at the Hilton Sand Diego Bayfront for $650 dollars for 2 nights.

This was a great location for our family’s stay in San Diego! Close to all the things we wanted to visit, the hotel itself was clean, the beach was well groomed and the staff were all wonderful. Would definitely stay again!

What's not to like? We had a room on the beach. Lots of restaurants on site. Great room service. The bed was pretty hard.
-
Great location with the bay adjacent to the property, and also a five minute walk to the ocean. Our room was spacious, clean, well appointed, and comfortable. The option of the little Winnebago food truck was also. Great option for breakfast Parking was a bit tight, but there seemed to be enough spots. Folks may have to walk a bit.
