Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina

We we placed at this hotel very last minute by Expedia, due to a booking glitch with our original reservation. The location was AMAZING with a view of the Marina as well as ocean. I loved sitting on the balcony after the stress of having to move across town. The staff was AMAZING, everyone was so nice and helpful. The room was very humid, I know its on the water, but a dehumidifier or two was very needed. Also, the tub backed up the first night we were there, and it stunk up the room after being drained. The kids loved the waterslides, it was the highlight of our stay. However not all the pools were open, and the hot tub that was advertised was down for "the unseeable future". Thank GOD the breakfast was included in our stay otherwise the restaurant is VERY expensive. The buffet was just "ok" but ordering off the menu was better in my opinion. Some of the breakfast staff were very grumpy, but others were so sweet. If you dont have the breakfast package, i wouldnt recommended. There was an amazing place called "Charlies Landing" .3 miles walking on the boardwalk that i highly recommend instead. Id recommended and stay here again for sure.

We didn’t like that half the pool area was under construction and had no clue so no hot tub one waterslide not working and one pool closed which is the whole reason why we chose that hotel

Two pools were closed, and AC was not working in the room. Was not notified by staff upon checking in about the closure of pools or paying for parking. Will not be coming back. Hotel rooms were also very old.

The actual grounds were well maintained but the rooms were really run down- need to be upgraded. If you can get past that, a good place for a family with young kids to be entertained!

Love the concierge

When I arrived there was only one parking attendant and no bellman to help we waited and waited then about 25mins later security helped me. The room was clean but all soap and shampoo were empty in the shower. Next morning, I go to the pool get one chair with my towels, put my bag there then walked to get a drink and immediately a man approached me saying if I walk away he will throw my towels and I will lose my seat. I said I’m getting a drink and my items are on the chair. He said if I’m gone 15mins I’ll lose it. It was 10:20am and there were many open seats so the attitude was uncalled for. They only had one hostess by the pool and she seemed overwhelmed and didn’t check on me once. I stopped her later and she wasn’t happy so I walked to the bar after that. The pool was cloudy and the bottom was slippery with all the people and kids the sunscreen I guess but I’ve been to other pools and they’re clean and clear. I went in once but would not let the water touch my face. For the amount their charging and a resort fee the place should be immaculate and the attitudes if the workers should be better. I’ll never go back.

Room was musty and dirty. Pool had murky water and the entire property grounds were not well kept. Overall for a Hyatt, at the prices we paid, TOTAL WASTE.

Staff was extremely helpful and polite. Lot's of activities to do for the kids. Food was great. Beautiful view of mission bay

Nothing major to complain about but I was hoping for a really nice stay and it was only ok. Breakfast was included and while the food was ok enough, every morning it was chaotic and weird for different reasons. Short staffed, maybe? Our orders were wrong 2 out of 4 times and I was made to feel really uncomfortable and pressured to leave additional tips for the servers after being told the 18% surcharge covered gratuity. One morning we were asked to wait in the lounge and help ourselves to coffee only to be immediately reprimanded for helping ourselves to coffee. Super awkward and uncomfortable. It was just not a great experience. I will likely not choose Hyatt again.

For what we were paying, it was a disappointment. When we first arrived, the first thing that we were greeted with was 2 overflowing trash cans - one at the valet parking and the second right outside the backside of the lobby. Parking was frustrating - $55/night for either self park or valet. Not enough self park spots, so you were forced to use the valet - which was very slow, inefficient, and with the expectation of a tip for slow service. When car was retrieved from the valet, it was extremely dirty and covered with n black dots (presumably from being parked under a tree…) We used the pool twice during our stay - both times not enough chairs for guest - several folks roaming around waiting to pounce on someone leaving. Also trash all over the place in the pool area - meal trays not being collected by the waitstaff and empty beer cans and drink cups everywhere. Ate at the Red Marlin one night - overpriced, very few options, sent a salad back for unwashed, gritty lettuce… and 2 raccoons walked right on to the deck…. ‘Borrowed’ beach chairs one day - they would make decent camp chairs, but made terrible beach chairs. Overall, would stay somewhere else on our next trip to SD.
