HI San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf Hostel

Location was perfect The place didn’t look very clean, specially the bathrooms, the mattress was not very comfortable

The location Didn’t get a tour so I didn’t know where everything was or how the kitchen set up was like *first time in a hostel

Unbeatable location. Great views of the Golden Gate bridge. Not enough cooking space. No smaller pots and pans for some reason. Not enough bowls, only a few very small ones. Can be very crowded to cook at peak times.

Great Hostel! Laundry was only $2 to wash/dry and they had quarters on site. Lots of other friendly travelers in the common areas. Staff is super friendly and there’s lots of simple touches that really elevate it above a standard hotel. Book swap in the main room, recommendation of things to do in each room (I was exhausted and it was nice to just.. not have to think up entertainment.) , lots of pamphlets and local info, community bulletin board. It’s in a really cool spot, neat area to walk around. Possibly the best of 5 hostels/motels we stayed in during our road trip. The parking was a little walk away, permit only but not closed in. Given that it’s San Fran that gave us a little anxiety, but we took everything in with us and nothing happened to any cars while we were there. The beds were too soft for me, though the other person in my party liked them.

The free towels, blanket, and free to use soap was nice and saved room in my luggage. Some people did not keep their voices down when it was 10pm. This was especially important that I needed some nice sleep since I had to wake up 4:30am for work the next day in one of my nights.

The location is super nice and fun to walk around nearby because it has a perfect view of the golden gate bridge and alcatraz. If you want to get touched by a ghost stay here!! The energy in this hostel is crazy because it is 100% haunted. My friends and I were joking about it all night because of all of the history that took place there but I never expected to actually experience anything. I am not one to believe in ghosts but after this now I do. I had a "dream" that I woke up and there was a girl sitting criss cross on my bunk bed smiling and talking to me asking to "use my eyes to see". I thought it was my friend I was traveling with because it looked so real and I could only see her silhouette. I closed and opened my eyes again and she was gone and replaced by a different "being" that was holding me down and sitting next to me on my bed. I thought that it was a homeless person trying to grab my camera that I had next to me in my bed. I realized it was sleep paralysis when I couldn't move and tried to relax. I have never experienced sleep paralysis before so this was strange that it happened here out of all places. I was very spooked but assumed it was just a coincidence until reading other reviews from other backpackers and even down to my very same experience. Another hosteler left a review about the same girl sitting on their bed in the bunk facing the golden gate bridge; and that is exactly where I was sleeping.

It was nice, as a solo female traveler I felt vary safe with the security measures they had in place. I stayed in a girl only dorm, the girls in there were kind and quiet (I know that may not always be the case) they’re was a charging area for phones and private storage area under the beds. The staff was friendly and helpful. I didn’t have any problems or issues.

Kind, friendly and helpful staff, very nice view of Golden Gate Bridge and the bay, clean place, spacious kitchen, and nice picnic tables for morning coffee and and watching the beautiful sunset:) The hostel is just a 7 or 8 minutes walking distance to the #8, #30 and #49 bus station, to go to San Francisco downtown, oFisherman's Wharf, or Sausalito.

beautiful location with free parking. Great range of people who were all super friendly. Huge kitchen and common space to hang out in. Met a friend and we spent the whole day together. Genuinely nothing, a great stay!

Location, cost, pool with Jose, kitchen, location, location, location

Beautiful views and by the water which was nice. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Kitchen and seating space is huge which was nice. They have laundry for like $1. They have a tv and movie like seating area. Snacks by the door for sale if you don’t wanna go to the store. They have cubbies for dry food and a lot of fridges for cold food that you need to label. Initially I was in a bed that was by the window and ants were crawling all over and by my bed so I asked to move to another bed and the staff was very nice and accommodating, they helped me no hesitation, no problem. The windows stay open all day pretty much until it gets cold at night so bugs tend to get in. There was a huge mosquito bigger than my hand in the bathroom while I was showering and ants as well.

the stay was so good for me, the location great you can also meet some decent people. the price is alright ? some of the drawing on the walls.

I think the general consensus for the beds in room 10 where I have stayed about 4 nights total in past 12 months, is that the beds are a little loose and maybe not as stiff or supportive as they could be. Sometimes a nice fix is a small piece of plywood under the mattress. I think after going to Japan last year, I also really appreciate privacy curtains in pods/cubicals/bunks...they add that element of personal space and at night and early morning can maintain darkness or such when others are moving about in the room

The property is located with the historical Fort Mason national park. There are scenic walking path, clear view of sunrise and sunset with Golden Gate bride and Alcatraz in the view. Lots of historical sites. Easy walk to tourist attractions like Ghirardelli, Boudin Factory, Pier 39, SF Chinatown, etc. The property also has huge kitchen and dining area, with pots, pans utensils, and dinnerware you can use for cooking/eating plus plenty of refrigeration. Also, there’s a really good water filtered machine so you can get free water. Love this. I don’t have anything I didn’t like. The only thing I wish is to have the bathroom within the dorm room. But, not a big deal at all since there are plenty of shared restrooms on the property, I didn’t find it hard to take shower without anyone around. ;0)

Staff were great, was clean and tidy, nothing was too much trouble. Kitchen lovely, clean and spacious and and great location. Kitchen closes 2-3pm - that when I eat my lunch

The location on the Bay is incredible. The room with eight bunks doesn’t have engineered ventilation and the room gets smelly with eight men in it, the window needs to be left open constantly but people close it because of the cold weather or the loud foot traffic of people coming and going outside.
