The pool is great. From 3ft to 8ft. There are many restaurants nearby.

Definitely no issue with the property or with the staff. Only reason for one less star is for the immediate neighborhood. Some people, maybe more so with families, may be deterred by this. Though there was no disturbances, property was secure, and had no issue staying there at all.

We stayed in the headliner suite, and it definitely needs an upgrade. The sofa was old and I don’t believe you could really sit in it. The carpets were also pretty dirty. The linens and bathroom were clean.

My pet was welcomed and was very comfortable during our entire stay

Just what we needed for a quick trip in San Francisco with our pup!

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The onsite parking is great. If it is sunny, you can chill by the pool.

Friendly, very knowledgeable and professional office staff. Room was clean and spacious. You could tell they made a good attempt at trying to keep the interior decorum updated. Light fixtures, drapes, wall paint were all new. Ice maker and water refill was conveniently located to our room. Only gripe is the main wall is a large window which obviously doesn’t block out much noise or sunlight in the mornings, you can hear everyone that walks through the property as well as the emergency vehicle sirens. In a good location to main attractions. By car 1.5-3 miles away from Fishermans Wharf, Chinatown, Pier 39, Japantown, City Hall, etc. At night the exterior of hotel is sketchy but during the day you’re just fine. Small fee for parking. Overall 3/5. Would recommend for families and a short stay.

We were stranded in SFO during a layover after our connecting flight was canceled after 3 hours. We spent an additional 3-4 hours at the airport trying to rebook. We finally had to find a place to stay by 5-6 a.m., and every hotel by the airport had no vacancy. Since our rerouted flight was going to be more than 1 day, we decided to look for options in the city. The Phoenix came up in our results with good reviews, and we took a chance to book a night and took an uber there. When we got there, tired and early in the morning, they were open and let us come into the lobby with our bags. I was able to do some work in the lobby since I had to already work in the morning. We waited for Robert, who was part of the management team, and due to some availability in inventory, he was able to check us in earlier than expected. He understood that we had gone through a long night, and he was so helpful in getting us in to a room to rest. We so greatly appreciated it and we don't know what we would have done if we couldn't get some rest soon, or much less, get into a hotel with our luggage the way we did that morning. They were life savers. The room was clean, and it had clean, comfortable beds. Great shower. Great rest. Location was close to many sight seeing opportunities. Thank you so much Phoenix!

It definitely is more run down than the pictures and previous ratings show. There are way too many homeless people dirtying up the streets right outside the hotel. The restaurant and lounge are not in service. The room wasn’t very clean. The cement in the courtyard has old gum all over it. I understand that this place is old, but they can keep it cleaner. The staff was very friendly and the beds were comfortable. Could be a lot nicer. I won’t be staying there again or recommend anyone to stay. Sorry.

Had a really enjoyable stay. It’s a kind of 50/60s highway hotel setup with the hotel built around an inner courtyard. Very retro. There is a pool. Rooms are basic but nice. The staff are all very nice. The area leaves something to be desired, full of homeless people and junkies. But it’s the tenderloin! I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again

The Phoenix Hotel is a retro hidden gem we’re grateful to have found. Super cool vibe and the staff is incredible!

This is an older hotel.. our stay wasn’t the best experience due to the area where the hotel is located. We only stayed one night and there was a lot of noise not to mention the front desk person having to come to speak to our neighbor guest who were arguing for a while (gave me insomnia the rest of the night) I will not be staying here ever again and wouldn’t recommend you walking anywhere to get food nearby b cause of how much homeless and drug users you encounter. My kiddos were very scared when we decided to go walking to look for dinner options. Never again!

I booked this hotel as a peaceful staycation for a Sunday and upon arrival I found out there was a day party with a dj, which would have been so fun to enjoy had we been informed of this happening, but we weren’t, so we didn’t get to enjoy. The parking lot was full of people going to this party and no spots for the actually people staying at the hotel. Then the bar and restaurant were closed ( bar open for party, but that was it). The red bar light above the bed was burnt out ( the cool red light you see in all of the photos ) which was something I was most excited about. The room was clearly tidy but not actually clean, you can tell the tub had not been cleaned ( hair shavings in soap holder ) and no conditioner given. I spotted two bugs in the room during our stay. Front desk staff was so night though. I wasn’t impressed and won’t go back.
