Good hotel. Good service. The neighborhood has lots of homeless people. So, some may not feel safe. No one bothers you. It is just a sad feeling to see people all around like that. On the other hand, the hotel is close to everything: 5 minutes from BART (the subway train), walking distance from Japan Town, and the ocean.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed with our stay at this hotel. First of all, we were charged an additional $28,50 for parking after we had already left the hotel. We were not clearly informed when making the reservation that parking was an additional charge. There was no clear information about the parking fee on the website when we booked the room. We understand that it may have been mentioned somewhere in the documents we signed at check-in, but this was not clearly explained to us. The room itself also lacked several basic amenities. There was no refrigerator, no microwave, and no kettle or coffee maker. The heater in the room also did not work very well. The room was quite cold when we arrived, and the heater did not warm the entire room properly.

This is a pretty awesome historic and updated hotel! It is also within walking distance of Union Square, Chinatown, and Downtown. There is a CVS close by and couple of pop in dining spots within blocks. I really like the bar and restaurant, but it was closed for renovation, not sure when it is opening. Staff are friendly and helpful! This is a unique hotel; it is a little battle worn but great place to crash if you are in the city for a concert or event!

Perhaps the rooms use to be smoking as there was a strong smoke smell in the room, but never the less it was a clean bed.

The only disappointment was the bar was closed, but made up by what was available at the front desk.

Our only disappointment was that the restaurant was under renovation and the bar wasn’t open midweek. Would stay here again.

Great little oasis in the city. Beautifully calm for being surrounded by a very urban area. Just funky enough 😀

The location. We stayed here to attend an event at the Bill Graham Civic center. This location is perfect for walking there and back. The staff was nice and helpful and the pool was fabulous!! Temperature was perfect even swimming at 9pm. The surrounding area.

Staff was great but management need to invest in the property itself. Rooms are old and dirty. Bathroom got black mold and the tile floor the grout u can see it used to be white but so black from all the gunk stuck in there. Oh and the noise was so bad. You can literally hear people partying next door until 3am. People slamming the gate their bedroom doors so loud. on Expedia it shows a bar and a restaurant but it seems like it’s permanently closed. I was expecting a quirky retro vibe, but it’s just a rundown mess.

The only good qualities: parking on site and clean/comfortable beds. Even with those I would NEVER stay here again. Nor would I recommend it.

overall staff were great, it's an older building does need some updates but overall great stay great hotel, the scenery of the hotel itself was a vibe and loved it. Beds are so comfortable love the mirror in the room. Surrounding area is a little ehhh but the staff are on top of safety and I love it my car was safe I felt safe!!!! Near the Mission King of the Street car show and it was perfect to catch a WayMo. Only complaint I thought the restaurant would be open, but it was closed the whole weekend, but I didn't ask either why was it closed. As for the pool it's amazing and heated too !
