Red Roof Inn San Marcos

My stay at Red Roof was ok. I could not say it was exceptional because of the condition of the room. The towels were very worn out. The toilet looked dirty but wasn't. It had an unpleasant smell. The bed was uncomfortable but it was an OK stay.

What a wonderful surprise. San Marcos is notorious for lack of hotels on big weekends, so we gave it a go and was pleasantly surprised. Older for sure, but super clean, QUIET, and awesome bed. Plus so close to all the things. Will definitely stay again. The towels are really thin but the shower was awesome and at this price who cares!

We arrived at the hotel and there was a wet spot in the middle of the room where I slipped and luckily did not fall, I was able to catch myself. We were not able to dry it up because we were only given 3 bath towels for 4 people, 1 wash cloth that we used as a hand towel and 1 bath mat. Breakfast was minimal. The room never got cold enough and when we asked for one extra towel since we were 4 people, we were told they did not have any extras. The beds were hard to sleep in because they were too firm.

Lots need to be updated or deep cleaned. When we first arrived we had to change one of our rooms because it smelled so heavily of cigarette smoke. The lamp shades were dirty/stained. The beds and pillows were terribly uncomfortable. It was like laying on springs and the pillows were old and flat. There was a large live cockroach in one of my rooms. They advertised free “continental” breakfast. There wasn’t hardly anything and they ran out of stuff.

The breakfast could have had additional selections, but overall was not bad.

Coffee was served cold each morning amd there is no way to make your own in your room. We had hair in our towels, but they were very kind and rushed us new ones. Be prepared though, NO elevators.

Pet friendly for good price Breakfast was mid all they served was waffles and cereal maybe some eggs and sausage on the side would have been nice and nothing to drink they offered.

Room was very clean and well kept No complaints

The staff are amazing. They make people feel welcome. Every other place I've stayed felt like I was bothering the staff just by checking in. None of that here.

Exceptional

The only downside was that one of the bathroom lights was burnt out and the other was very dim, leaving the bathroom poorly lit; otherwise, it offered good value for money, and I would certainly stay there again.

Exceptionally rude customer service at front desk. - drunk customers coming in and making noise all night and they made me out to be the villain and them to be the victim. They would not move me or them rooms. Just Told me to check out.

The location was great. I brought my pet. The bathroom floor was not clean. The towels were old. The room smelled like mildew. I feel that you rent rooms for pets. It is a good idea to keep them aired out. The staff was great and friendly; the building and the property were clean. The room needed a deep clean.
