Sandpiper Lodge

We stood one night and that was enough. Our ac unit was broken and I called twice to get it checked. They couldn’t fix it and said sorry but enjoy your stay. I had two small children in that room and we had to sleep with the window open because it was so hot! At check out they said they would be bring my concerns to the manger and that she wasn’t the one that took my complaint so she couldn’t do anything about it. They said they have to look into the situation in order for any reimbursement was given to me for the room. It was an awful sleep and more for my children. Even though I mentioned I had two kids they didn’t seem to care. The manger was also there at check out in the back office and heard me but didn’t once come out to say anything. Awful staff.

The Sandpiper is our go-to spot when overnighting in Santa Barbara. It’s reasonably priced and convenient for us when visiting family in town. Located on State Street the hotel is close to restaurants and gasoline stations. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and professional and knows us by name. We generally don’t take advantage of the breakfast but know that it’s basic in nature providing coffee, cereal and pastries.

Hotel was good but carpets were very dirty . Black feet each morning needs cleaning . Swimming pool good hot tub great .

Pros: very spacious, separate sitting area with table to eat at, desk with two additional chairs, quiet property, lots of storage options, shower and toilet are behind a door with a window but no fan, dual sink with plentiful counter space, good sound barrier between the rooms, mini fridge was very cold, deep, and tall enough for gallon water jug, microwave, AC was loud but held temperature well. Cons: There is a lot of cosmetic damage through out the property and in the rooms, some of it even affects the usage of items, like the buttons on the air conditioner. The upstairs hallways are very narrow, with multiple steep ramps, so hard to navigate with mobility issues, heavy/bulky luggage, or luggage cart. There is only one elevator by the main entrance. Almost every other air conditioner was leaking onto the tile floor outside the rooms. This is probably why there was a musty smell in the entryway of our room. The refillable toiletries leave a lot to be desired. Our lotion was empty, and the shampoo and body wash were very thin/watered down. Continental Breakfast is almost all carbs and very basic. You will be charged for one night 24 hours before check in. The rest is charged after you check out, but pending starting when you check in.

Great convenient spot to stop on the way up to Northern California. Easy check-in, decent rooms but dated, great heated pool and hot tub, breakfast is just bread, yogurt, bananas, juice, coffee and tea.
