Courtyard by Marriott Santa Cruz

The pool was closed and I was not told at time of booking. Its a very nice property ,but in poor state of operation. The pool was closed the parking is very controlled and limited we had two cars with a suite to sleep 5 and two children .I have stayed at 7 different properties and due to the fact Marriott was considered high end of the market. I used to always stay at Embassy Suites , Marriott just does not get it . You buy a company steal there best Ideals ,not buy them to stop them .I felt like Motel 6 might have not disappointed me as much,you go in expecting less and your happy . This stay was the opposite. I went in looking for more and it never showed.The check in took a long time .I had to wait for my room in the lobby .I went three times through a line before it was ready . Ohh I was locked out of my room at 11:15 am .I had to buy the extra 25 minutes . Not enough towels for 7 people in a suite . The room looked into a private home or the home looked into our room ? I really could go on .Lets just say I love the place Santa Cruz., But Marriott Courtyard missed my mark.

I liked how big the room was, I did not like you have to pay for parking.

One thing to be aware of is that the property is valet-only. That being said, the valet staff was incredibly respectful, friendly, and hardworking; even when they were swamped with guests. The location is also excellent. It’s perfect for visiting the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, and it’s only about a 30-minute drive to the Redwood Loop Trail, making it easy to enjoy both the coast and the redwoods. Overall, we had an amazing experience and really enjoyed our stay. I would definitely recommend this property, especially for anyone planning to explore Santa Cruz and the surrounding area.

The room was very clean. The staff were having a hard time with the new computer system. We were very disappointed that the pool was out of service- this is one of the reasons that we booked this hotel. We did not use the bar. The coffee (Starbucks) was wonderful, great latte.

Whenever you are in Santa Cruz, Courtyard Santa Cruz is it ! It’s walking distance to the Pier, and Beach. Unfortunately the pool was closed during our stay, which was a bummer, kids were excited. Other than that great family friendly hotel

The beds were not comfortable and the pool was not operational also I did not like that we were charged a valet fee to park our vehicle inside the hotel.

Honestly very dissapointed in my experience with this hotel. I generally travel with Marriott and this has been quite the upset. Check-in was alright, they were transferring to a new computer system that nobody seemed to have been trained on. The woman working the front desk was incredibly sweet despite this though. Property was well kept and clean, so no complaints there, and location was decent. However, despite having prepaid for my booking, they put an additional near $500 hold on my account for the duration of my stay and “an additional 3-5 days after checkout”. I understand a small security deposit, but this was ridiculous. Still have yet to receive my money back which has caused significant issues with return travel. They require valet parking, which is fine, however there was no valet. We attempted to check out around 6:30 AM as we had a long drive ahead, however despite multiple visits to the front desk there was no valet attending despite “24/7 in/out privileges” advertised. There were already multiple parties waiting ahead of us when we arrived, and we were not able to have our car retrieved until around 7AM. We were not refunded the valet fee. All in all, I am quite disappointed in my experience with the Courtyard by Marriott and would not recommend it if you have a strict travel schedule or tight budget needs.

Unfortunately we did not have a nice view. Our window was facing the back of the motel next to us. We didn’t get to utilize the pool unfortunately due to maintenance.

I always stay here when in Santa Cruz. Excellent customer service. Perfectly located and the property is always spotless.

5 minute walk to the boardwalk. Very safe, quiet and clean

The only lament I have is that the pillows are terrible. I ended up with a neck back pain. Very stingy with pillows
