Hampton Inn Santa Cruz West, CA

Location was great for walking to the nearby brewpubs and shops, easy access to walking trail. However, our room was facing Mission St and it was super noisy from cars driving by throughout the night and morning. They didn't have any rooms on the first floor so only floor was second floor. There were stairs to get out and let you out on the street, which was convenient with dogs, but door doesn't open from the outside so always had to go inside to get to room. All in all, it was fine, convenient and easy.

All around great hotel. Safe area walking distance to the beach, coffee, bars, an everything you need. Clean, quiet, good little breakfast too! Always enjoy my time here.

Good dog friendly place. A little loud at night from the cars since it’s on a major street; window sound insulation is not very good.

Makes you wonder what else they skip on. Not what I expected at all and will be finding another place to stay when we visit our son at college.

Receptionist was not that friendly but the hotel was great.

Our stay was really pleasant. The only issue was that they did not bring us clean towels and empty our trash as requested on day 2 of our stay.

We came in from Georgia. The first night we were up most of the night due to being right by the road and we heard nothing but cars, trucks and motorcycles ALL NIGHT. It was terrible. The next morning I had mentioned it to the staff at the front seat and he said,”next time you come here ask for a room off the road… and I thought.. I have never been here before to know where your hotel is located much less the traffic was going to keep me up all night and it was never mentioned that he should have moved us to another room.. breakfast was very good..

The bed The bathroom door handle, only becacouse I didn't chop my fingers but with that door I nearly did hop my fingers. Change the handles that can chop a child's fingers.

My desire to switch to a different room was denied; so we took showers that was weather too hot or cold!… Not impressed this visit at all with the conditions of the maintenance of the hotel but also not very impressed with the staff’s helpfulness. On top everything the room keys we were issued stoped working we noticed about 2 hours after we checked in. Normal we figured things happen! So went to the front where they were adjusted, let’s call it. Right after I went to my car to retrieve something. Tried both keys but couldn’t get the side door open! As if I have never used a key card before front desk assistant asked me if I used it correctly! And tried it at the door and told me it was the door that had an issue!… As I said, I don’t know what the administration, management or maintenance staff are getting paid for here! It sure looks like something is off! In the room; I never had to sleep on pillows as this! They were the same kind you will find in a cheap motel! Last time we were there we clearly remember being impressed by the comfort and quality of the pillows! It was very very disappointing for a Hilton chain to have reduced quality as they have raised their prices!

Our second stay at this hotel. It’s kind of our goto hotel now when visiting Santa Cruz. The staff is great, parking is great, and location is great. It’s within walking distance to food and other necessities. There is a great pizza place across the street, 711, and an ice cream place. I only wish it had a pool. Comes with a nice simple breakfast that gets your day started.

Comfortable bed Nondescript hotel room with absolutely no charm or attempt to make it a pleasing experience. Way too expensive for what you get.
